General Manager: Lead a High-Performing Hotel in the Heart of Gatlinburg

Lead An Exceptional Mountain Hospitality Experience

In the heart of Gatlinburg—where the Great Smoky Mountains welcome millions of visitors each year—this is an opportunity to lead more than a hotel. It is an opportunity to shape memorable stays, build an outstanding team, drive meaningful results, and represent Hospitality Solutions with pride in one of Tennessee’s most celebrated destinations.

Hospitality Solutions is seeking a decisive, service-driven leader who understands that exceptional hotel performance begins with an exceptional guest experience. The successful candidate will oversee every facet of property operations, creating a culture in which associates feel valued, guests feel genuinely welcomed, and owners receive the disciplined financial stewardship they expect.

This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer of Hospitality Solutions, Inc., a third-party hotel management company committed to operational excellence, brand standards, accountability, and the development of strong hospitality leaders.

The Opportunity

Gatlinburg is a destination unlike any other: a gateway to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a vibrant year-round tourism market, and a place where families, outdoor enthusiasts, conventions, and leisure travelers come to make lasting memories. Leading a hotel here requires energy, commercial instincts, operational discipline, and a genuine passion for welcoming people.

You will serve as the property’s visible leader—equally comfortable reviewing financial performance, coaching department leaders, engaging with guests, inspecting rooms, developing sales strategies, and stepping in wherever needed to deliver an exceptional stay.

What You’ll Lead

Guest Experience And Brand Excellence
  • Set the standard for warm, attentive, and proactive guest service throughout the hotel.
  • Remain visible, approachable, and responsive to guests, resolving concerns with professionalism, urgency, and sound judgment.
  • Ensure every department consistently meets or exceeds guest expectations.
  • Drive guest satisfaction performance, including GSS, SALT, and other brand survey measures, with a goal of placing the hotel among the brand’s highest-performing properties.
  • Maintain readiness for quality assurance inspections, brand audits, and brand-standard evaluations.
  • Conduct regular room, public-space, grounds, kitchen, and back-of-house inspections to ensure outstanding cleanliness, sanitation, maintenance, and presentation.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and general-clean programs that protect the guest experience and the long-term value of the asset.
Team Leadership And Talent Development
  • Build a high-performing, service-minded team through thoughtful hiring, thorough onboarding, effective training, coaching, recognition, and accountability.
  • Communicate goals, results, and expectations clearly so every associate understands how their work contributes to the hotel’s success.
  • Lead with confidence, energy, professionalism, and a hands-on approach that inspires associates to do their best work.
  • Promote teamwork, morale, empowerment, cross-training, and meaningful career development across all departments.
  • Conduct timely performance reviews and regular one-on-one conversations with associates and department leaders.
  • Partner with the Assistant General Manager and department heads to translate guest feedback and operational results into practical improvement plans.
  • Ensure new associates receive complete orientations and understand the benefits, policies, and opportunities available to them.
  • Maintain a workplace that reflects Hospitality Solutions’ commitment to fair treatment, open communication, respect, and cultural diversity.
Revenue, Sales, And Financial Performance
  • Achieve budgeted revenue, profit, and guest-satisfaction goals while balancing cost discipline with service excellence.
  • Lead revenue-management, inventory-control, forecasting, and yield-management strategies to maximize performance in Gatlinburg’s dynamic leisure market.
  • Develop annual operating budgets and capital expenditure plans in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer and ownership.
  • Review selling strategies, market conditions, forecasts, and performance reports regularly with the Director of Sales and leadership team.
  • Coach associates and department leaders on their role in the sales process and in capturing every appropriate revenue opportunity.
  • Oversee accounting and financial-control functions, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, petty cash, purchasing, and ordering procedures.
  • Review and approve payroll; monitor labor in relation to occupancy forecasts and anticipated business needs.
  • Analyze financial statements, provide accurate and timely reporting, and keep the Chief Operating Officer informed of property performance, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Minimize accident, workers’ compensation, unemployment, and other controllable costs through strong safety practices and sound management.
Operational Leadership And Compliance
  • Direct all hotel operations in accordance with Hospitality Solutions policies, ownership expectations, and applicable brand standards.
  • Ensure appropriate management coverage during evenings, weekends, holidays, and periods of peak guest demand.
  • Lead by example through a visible, hands-on presence in the operation whenever service needs require it.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and lead accident-prevention programs across all hotel departments.
  • Ensure the hotel maintains all required licenses, permits, certifications, and compliance obligations at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all applicable brand-standard manuals, systems, reports, and training requirements.
  • Support food-and-beverage operations as needed and maintain required food-handling certification.
  • Coordinate closely with department managers to align staffing, service delivery, maintenance, security, and operational priorities.

Represent The Hotel Beyond Its Doors

In a destination defined by hospitality, community relationships matter. You will help strengthen the hotel’s presence with local businesses, competitive hotels, the Chamber of Commerce, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, clients, and community stakeholders. Your leadership will help position the property as a trusted choice for travelers discovering the Smokies, enjoying Gatlinburg’s attractions, or returning for another unforgettable mountain getaway.

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with community, tourism, and business partners.
  • Represent the hotel with professionalism in community and government affairs when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other property managers and Hospitality Solutions leaders to share best practices and advance company objectives.
  • Ensure the safety, security, and comfort of guests, associates, and the property at all times.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role is measured by more than occupancy or a monthly report. It is reflected in enthusiastic guest reviews, strong brand-audit results, engaged associates, a well-maintained property, disciplined financial performance, and a leadership team that is growing stronger under your direction.

The ideal candidate brings demonstrated hotel leadership experience, strong financial and revenue-management acumen, an understanding of branded hotel operations, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day execution. Most importantly, this leader brings the presence, resilience, and personal pride required to excel in a fast-paced, guest-focused destination hotel environment.

A Career With Elevation

This is a compelling career-path opportunity for a hospitality professional ready to lead at a higher level. Hospitality Solutions offers the chance to make a visible impact, work closely with senior leadership and ownership, develop talented associates, and build a record of success in a market known for its energy, beauty, and enduring appeal.

Because hospitality never takes a holiday, this position requires flexibility to work weekends and holidays, including regular weekend leadership coverage. In return, you will have the opportunity to lead a team and a property at the center of the Gatlinburg experience—where every arrival is a chance to exceed expectations and every stay can become a reason to return.
