Originally opened in 1909, the Terminal Station served as Chattanooga’s largest train station until it closed with the American railroad decline in 1970. The station was saved from demolition and opened as the Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel complex just two years later in 1972. The building is a Beaux-Arts award winning design that features a 90-foot high ceiling and is one of the largest freestanding brick arches in the world.
