JOB OVERVIEW:

The Corporate Staff Accountant is a key member of the accounting team responsible for supporting the financial management and accounting operations of assigned hotel properties. This role is property assigned as needed, working closely with both the corporate finance team and on‑site property management to ensure all accounting deadlines are consistently met.

Key responsibilities include maintaining strong and proactive communication with vendors, property operations teams, and corporate leadership to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all accounting workflows. The role oversees a timely and well‑controlled Accounts Payable process, executes daily and weekly income audit procedures, and performs general cashiering duties while safeguarding company assets. The Staff Accountant also assists with Accounts Receivable functions, reconciliations, and follow‑up to ensure proper billing, collections, and documentation.

The position may also involve producing required financial reports, supporting with monthly close tasks, and taking on special assignments or cross‑property support, as detailed in the sections below. The ideal candidate demonstrates confidence and professionalism, communicates financial expectations clearly, and handles challenging conversations with vendors, managers, and operational staff in a solution-focused and respectful manner. Ability to work under pressure during peak business periods, month-end close, and when resolving urgent financial matters.

WORK REQUIREMENTS:

• Audit and reconcile daily Income Audit reports to ensure accurate revenue postings, payment methods, PMS/POS interfaces, and departmental totals.
• Prepare and process Accounts Payable invoices daily efficiently and accurately by using correct GL codes and ensure all proper backups are attached using three-way matching for multiple legal entities. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve outstanding issues. Ensure timely payments by meeting weekly check run deadlines. 
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts such as prepaid expenses and process all company & intercompany documents in compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures.
• Prepare Month-End reclass entries and accruals for expenses such as utilities, contracts, payroll, F&B, and monthly operational costs to ensure proper period matching.
• Assist in achieving timely and accurate monthly financial close across all properties by ensuring all assigned closing tasks are completed with 100% accuracy and submitted to achieve our 10-day closing calendar.
• General Cashiering & Cash Controls. Review, reconcile, and monitor daily cashier reports. Verify cash deposits, credit card batches, and payment variances, research discrepancies promptly. Ensure compliance with cash-handling policies. Perform periodic audits of safe counts, petty cash, and house bank assignments. Maintain and control house banks & main cash vault. Assist Accounting Manager with chargeback inquiries. 
• Support AR functions such as AR Reconciliation and billing. Collections and reconciling payments related to hotel guests, group bookings, events, corporate accounts. properly posting payments to guests and client invoices. 
• Assist with preparation of 1099 tax reporting at year-end. 
• Cross-train in other areas within the Accounting Department. Work closely with property accounting and HR teams, General Managers, and operations leaders.
• Ad Hoc projects and tasks as assigned by management as needed.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma. 
• Three years experience in various accounting functions in a hotel operation.
