We are seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Engineering to join the pre-opening leadership team of an exciting new dual-branded AC Hotel by Marriott and Element by Westin in the heart of downtown Boise. This modern, upscale property will feature 296 guest rooms and a stunning rooftop bar and restaurant on the 15th floor, offering panoramic city views.
This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in the successful opening and long-term operation of a high-profile hotel in one of the fastest-growing downtown markets in the Northwest.
Position OverviewThe Director of Engineering is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, and operational integrity of the property. This role oversees all engineering systems, preventive maintenance programs, life-safety compliance, sustainability initiatives, and capital planning while leading and developing the engineering team.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead all pre-opening engineering activities, including systems commissioning, vendor coordination, and transition from construction to operations
Oversee daily operation and maintenance of all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, fire systems, elevators, and guestroom technology
Ensure compliance with Marriott brand standards, local, state, and federal regulations, and OSHA requirements
Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs to maximize asset life and minimize downtime
Prepare and manage the engineering department budget, capital expenditures, and energy management programs
Recruit, train, schedule, and lead the engineering team to ensure high performance and accountability
Partner with hotel leadership to support guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and sustainability goals
Maintain accurate documentation, logs, inspections, and compliance records
Minimum 5+ years of hotel engineering leadership experience, preferably as a Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering
Experience with Marriott-branded hotels strongly preferred; dual-brand experience a plus
New hotel opening or major renovation experience highly desirable
Strong technical knowledge of building systems and life-safety requirements
Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call as needed
Salary: $90,000 – $100,000, commensurate with experience
