JOB SUMMARY

Provide excellent service to hotel guest rooms in a devoted and efficient manner. Responsible for stocking housekeeping supplies for the various housekeeping functions in the hotel, clean, and maintain the guest hallways and other assigned areas. Support and service the room attendants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

• Operational Responsibilities
  • Responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties: delivering/carrying down and sorting linen, special cleaning projects, vacuuming guest corridors, delivering guest laundry, discarding trash from guest rooms/corridors/service landings, room readiness, moving furniture, delivering glassware and other requests by supervisors or managers 
  • Sweep and mop floors in service landings on assigned floors as needed or directed by a supervisor/manager.
  • Vacuum carpet throughout the assigned guest corridors daily.
  • Delivers requested supplies for room attendants to ensure successful completion of guest rooms.
  • Deliver linen and supplies to housekeeping storage on assigned floors.  
  • Ensure all trash and dirty linen is collected at the end of each shift.
  • Remove all room service trays from guest sight on the guest floors.  Place trays in housekeeping storage or service landing.
  • Assist with moving furniture, rugs, and equipment as needed.
  • Assist with checking guest restrooms for cleanliness if needed or directed by a supervisor/manager.
  • Assist with stripping rooms on occasion by taking trash and dirty linen out of room.  Remove room service trays as well.
  • Ensure assigned floors’ housekeeping storages are properly filled with linen, towels, and room amenities for the day.
  • Maintain shelf organization in assigned storage.  Ensure all storerooms are locked and secure.  
  • Always comply with company protocols (i.e: No Propping Doors.)  Disciplinary action will be taken if any violation of team members does not follow prescribed protocols/ guidelines.
  • Assist with spot cleaning carpets in guest rooms and guest room hallways with the proper chemicals.
• Guest Services
  • Responsible for delivering guest requests and guest interaction to the Valencia standard.
  • Assist guests as needed when in the guest halls.
  • Deliver guest requests in a timely manner and alert supervisor/manager on duty when completed.
  • Ensure guest request items such as microwaves and refrigerators are delivered smelling fresh and clean.  Cribs and rollaways are delivered with fresh, clean sheets and are secure.
  • Have a positive attitude with internal and external guests and be an integral part of a positive and inclusive work environment 
  • Always apply the principles of trust, honesty, respect, integrity, and commitment.
  • Help establish confidence in the housekeeping team among peers throughout the hotel and throughout Valencia Group.
  • Participate in mandatory training and meetings. 
  • Must be comfortable using the Paycom app or computers to complete training
  • May use device (Alice App) to communicate with team members internally during shift to assign/ complete tasks.
• Team Support and Training
  • Required to complete a two-week training checklist and position checklist within the first month of employment.
  • Safety committee and Stellar committee
  • Assist with special projects as directed by supervisors and management.
  • Voluntarily assist other team members as needed 
  • Participate in continuous training as needed to keep developing 
• Communication and Reporting
  • Constant communication with management or supervisors. Must be able to navigate a work phone and communicate via hotel-provided applications.
  • Keep detailed notes of assigned tasks throughout the shift.  Turn in the completed task sheet at the end of each shift with time and note each item as being completed.
  • Keep constant communication with supervisors and managers until you return your work phone to the housekeeping office.  At no time should communication be cut off prior to that.
• Safety & Compliance
  • Maintaining a safe environment, following hotel policies, or meeting industry compliance standards. 
  • Ensure chemicals are used according to OSHA regulations and Hotel Valencia standards.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly cared for and secure at the end of each shift.
  • Ensure chemicals are used according to OSHA regulations and Hotel Valencia Riverwalk standards.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including non-slip shoes, gloves, and other safety equipment as needed.
  • Properly handle, label, and store cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, accidents, injuries, or near misses to a supervisor.
  • Follow proper lifting and material-handling procedures.
  • Keep walkways, exits, and emergency equipment clear and accessible.

BASICS 

• Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas
• Display courteous behavior with guests and team members
• Report any unsafe conditions immediately
• Ensure hotel equipment is in proper working condition 
• Attend required meetings
• Follow company policies and procedures
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor

Physical Requirements

• Walking: Constantly. Often for long periods.
• Crouching(Bend at the knees): Frequently. Bending to vacuum and perform cleaning duties.
• Stooping (Bend at the waist): Frequently, stoop to vacuum and perform cleaning duties.
• Reaching (Overhead/Extension): Frequently, to perform cleaning duties.
• Dexterity/Tactile Agility: Frequently, move fingers, hands, and arms to quickly and easily handle linen, glassware and amenities.
• Pushing/Pulling: Frequently, pushing a 200-pound cart.
• Lifting/Carrying: Frequently, lifting 50 lbs. maximum

Working Environment

• Interior: All interior areas of the hotel. Exposed to a variety of surfaces, including tiles, carpet, wood flooring, and cement.  Use of stairwells and elevators daily
• Exterior: All exterior areas of the hotel with exposure to weather conditions
• Exposure to hazardous chemicals in a controlled environment

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Previous housekeeping experience preferred, but not necessary.
