What will you do?

• Diagnose equipment malfunctions using testing tools, computerized systems, and technical expertise to determine repair requirements and corrective actions.
• Perform electrical, mechanical, and electronic repairs, installations, and component replacements on building and food service equipment.
• Execute preventive maintenance programs including inspections, cleaning, adjustments, and operational testing to ensure equipment reliability.
• Support facility maintenance projects involving construction, carpentry, painting, structural repairs, and installation of building materials and temporary structures.
• Conduct inspections and repairs of roofs, doors, walls, floors, moldings, trim, and other facility components to maintain safe operations.
• Operate ladders, man lifts, and specialized equipment safely while maintaining tools, supplies, and work areas in proper working condition.
• Follow safety procedures, utilize required personal protective equipment, maintain environmental compliance records, and properly handle refrigerants and related materials.

More about you

• Must be at least 21 years old to apply. 
• High school diploma or equivalent experience, with completion of a certified apprenticeship program or trades school.
• Minimum of five years of professional experience with MIG, TIG, and stick welding. 
• High-end metal layout and fit-up of complex fabrication experience, including brazing, cutting with torch, and band saws; some additional experience in other disciplines preferred. 
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and associated software. 
• Valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation required. 
• Possession of welding certifications, electrical journeyman’s license, Universal Refrigeration Certification, certified public pool service technician, or EPA refrigerant technician preferred.
• Familiar with computerized maintenance management system to enter working hours and notes. 
• This position requires authorization to work at Kennedy Space Center and completion of all site access requirements.  

Physical requirements

• Ability to wear appropriate safety PPE, such as fall protection, respirator, hearing protection, safety glasses, face shield or goggles.
• Exposure to heat, dirt, dust, noise, fumes, wetness, paint, and solvents.
• Ability to work on ladders, scaffolds, or high lift.
• Ability to read and interpret codes and blueprints.
• Frequent standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, and kneeling.
• Abillity to lift, carry or manipulate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
