The ideal candidate is an organized and dependable leader who takes pride in maintaining high standards and creating a welcoming environment for every guest.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate daily priorities, occupancy information, VIP arrivals, group requirements, safety reminders, and operational updates.

  • Inspect guest rooms, suites, public areas, hallways, storage areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure compliance with hotel cleanliness and presentation standards.

  • Ensure vacant, clean rooms are inspected, updated in the hotel’s property-management system, and released to the Front Office on time.

  • Coordinate closely with the Front Office regarding room status, early arrivals, late departures, room changes, special requests, and out-of-order rooms.

  • Report maintenance deficiencies promptly and follow up with the Maintenance Department until repairs are completed.

  • Recruit, train, coach, schedule, supervise, and evaluate housekeeping employees.

  • Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, productivity, uniform standards, grooming, and workplace conduct.

  • Provide ongoing training on cleaning procedures, chemical safety, equipment operation, guest interaction, room-entry procedures, lost-and-found requirements, and workplace safety.

  • Monitor room-cleaning productivity while maintaining quality and preventing employees from being rushed beyond safe and reasonable expectations.

  • Address performance concerns through coaching, retraining, and corrective action in accordance with company policies.

  • Assist with cleaning rooms, public areas, or laundry operations when necessary due to occupancy, staffing shortages, or operational needs.

  • Respond professionally and promptly to guest concerns involving room cleanliness, missing items, amenities, odors, maintenance, or special housekeeping requests.

  • Investigate housekeeping-related complaints, determine appropriate corrective action, and follow up to support guest satisfaction.

  • Maintain accurate inventory of linens, towels, guest supplies, cleaning chemicals, uniforms, equipment, and other departmental materials.

  • Order supplies based on approved inventory levels and operational needs while minimizing waste, loss, and unnecessary expenses.

  • Manage linen distribution, collection, storage, par levels, and periodic inventories.

  • Monitor labor hours, overtime, scheduling, supply expenses, and departmental costs in accordance with the approved budget.

  • Ensure cleaning chemicals are labeled, stored, diluted, and used properly in accordance with manufacturer instructions and safety requirements.

  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets and ensure employees have access to required chemical-safety information.

  • Enforce proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of vacuums, carts, laundry equipment, and other housekeeping tools.

  • Oversee the hotel’s lost-and-found procedures, including documentation, storage, guest communication, return, and disposal of items.

  • Develop and monitor deep-cleaning, preventive-maintenance, mattress-rotation, carpet-cleaning, and special-project schedules.

  • Participate in daily meetings, department-head meetings, safety meetings, inspections, and other operational meetings as required.

  • Maintain accurate departmental records, including room inspections, cleaning schedules, inventories, training documents, attendance records, and maintenance requests.

  • Support hotel emergency procedures and immediately report safety hazards, suspicious activity, injuries, property damage, or security concerns.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding guests, employees, hotel operations, and company information.

  • Perform other duties and special projects assigned by hotel management.
