POSITION PURPOSE
To oversee the Sales and Conference Services departments and staff to generate and maximize revenues.To provide service to guests and fellow team members in a manner which meets or exceeds Handlery Hotels’ standards and to comply with established company and departmental policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
As a leader for Handlery Hotels, this position is to make significant contributions to excellence in guest satisfaction and loyalty, team member satisfaction and commitment, overall operations, and financial performance. This position is to model and consistently reinforce behaviors reflected in Handlery Hotels’ cultural core, as well as serving as an agent of change, being effectively flexible in leadership style, working collaboratively, and complying with managers’ standards.
Key Job Responsibilities
Conceive, plan, direct, control, implement and maintain strategies/action plans to generate and maximize overall revenues through sales efforts, hotel’s direct website, promotion, advertising and public relations that will impact positively on all operating departments of the hotel, and marketing. Stimulate productivity of all sales staff through guidance, development and support. Develop, maintain and implement creative packages to fill identified need periods in all markets. Develop and follow through on quarterly goals/targets for sales team. Develop annual marketing and business plans.
Oversee and manage the Sales team. Set goals for managers and assist managers in closing business. Review contracts to ensure accuracy Work with yield team to set rates monthly, weekly, and daily. Identify need periods and create action plans to fill this area.
Ensure group rooms have food and beverage minimums. Develop, maintain and implement the budgeting and forecasting process. Interact collaboratively and communicate well with all departments. Inform team members of hotel and departmental goals and objectives and motivate self and staff to achieve those goals. Respond to guest requests quickly and efficiently.
Effectively control and minimize all sales and marketing expenses while exceeding overall budgeted revenues and occupancy. Ensure that all administration procedures are in place and functioning effectively. Ensure that all required reports are completed on a timely basis, including that staff provide the necessary reports and market information for the markets they are assigned to (or assisting with) on the agreed-upon timeline. Ensure this information is analyzed and used to improve overall sales efforts and is reviewed to confirm each market is meeting Handlery Hotels’ expectations and needs. Promote high visibility of hotel through active involvement in associations, trade shows and community activities.
Other
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Team members with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
Upon employment, all team members are required to fully comply with property rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the property’s equipment and facilities. Team members who violate property rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the property.

Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by property environmental systems.
Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours per day. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other departments of the property on a timely basis.
Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, managers, and fellow team members.
Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception.
Requires manual and finger dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year College or technical school; or 4 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar position required.
Licenses or Certificates
Able to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates, or permits applicable to the position.
Grooming
Team member must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Handlery Hotels’ standards.
