Compensation: $106,020 to $130,884 per year
Job Summary:
Develops, plans and organizes Event Services for the City’s Annenberg Community Beach House. Markets and promotes the public beach facility for meeting and special event rentals, and commercial filming and photography to a diverse year-round clientele. Supports Cultural Affairs Venue Supervisor to schedule and review the work of event services staff.
Representative Duties:
Develops and implements marketing and sales strategies to generate leads and support future prospecting for Beach House event services.
Coaches, trains and motivates event services staff to deliver the full range of event support services and ensure high-quality customer service to clients.
Works collaboratively with meeting planners and professional associations throughout Southern California to promote the Beach House as a prime oceanfront destination for meetings, special events and commercial film and photography.
Conducts sales tours for prospective clients. Responds to client and patron inquiries and uses creative approaches to assist potential clients in achieving their desired event goals.
Develops on-line and collateral marketing materials appropriate for the event services client base, with support from City technical staff and consultants.
Works closely with event service vendors including, but not limited to caterers on practices, procedures and marketing opportunities.
Assists the Beach House Venue Manager in establishing and evaluating revenue control mechanisms for Beach House meeting and special event booking.
Makes policy and procedure recommendations in support of the goals of Beach House event services management.
Acts as the onsite Beach House representative for assigned events, coordinating with the Cultural Affairs Venue Supervisor, Event Coordinators, and facilities operations staff to manage room setups, staffing levels, and serve as the primary liaison between the facility, clients, and patrons.
Interacts with clients regarding compliance with terms of the contract, policies and procedures of the facility.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Option A
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
Experience: Two years of recent, paid increasingly responsible work experience marketing and coordinating events. At least one year of the required work experience must include coordinating the work of others. Experience coordinating events in a public or private community oriented assembly facility is desirable.
Option B
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree.
Experience: Four years of recent, paid increasingly responsible work experience marketing and coordinating events. At least one year of the required work experience must include coordinating the work of others. Experience coordinating events in a public or private community oriented assembly facility is desirable.
Option C
Education: Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency.
Experience: Six years of recent, paid increasingly responsible work experience marketing and coordinating events. At least one year of the required work experience must include coordinating the work of others. Experience coordinating events in a public or private community oriented assembly facility is desirable.
Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a valid class C driver license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
Possession of a current certification in at least one of the following is desirable: Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Certified Association Sales Executive (CASE), Certified in Hospitality Sales Competencies (CHSC), or Certified Professional Catering Executive (CPCE).
