Banquet Captain

Part-Time

Summary of Position:

The Banquet Captain is responsible for handling all aspects of event operations to ensure a seamless and elevated experience by following a structured framework for proper execution of meetings and events, detailed customer service, operational efficiency, venue presentation, and heartfelt hospitality.

Essential Functions:

•Attend weekly BEO and Resume meetings

•Lead pre-shifts for Hotel and Catering staff members for every social and corporate event

•Act as liaison between Event Manager/banquet staff members and clients

•Greet guests upon arrival and introduce yourself as the main point of contact

•Ensure that all client personal belongings are packed up and reach their destination of client expectation

•Supervise staff during set-up, breakdown and all service execution according to Banquet Steps of Service SOP

•Work alongside F&B Supervisor on staff scheduling

•Assist in service training for all existing and new banquet team members

•Administration duties to include entry of event charges, consumptions sheets and function review sheet

•Coordinate successful timing of events according to the BEO, guest needs and overall Marc & Rose Hospitality standards of service

•Maintaining Banquet equipment to ensure organization of storage facilities and assisting with inventory as needed

•Supervise maintenance of meeting and event spaces according to set up SOPs

•Other tasks as assigned by manager to best assist guest service, Sales Department and Operations

Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Experience: 2 years of banquet supervisory experience required
• Certificates or Licenses: Food Handler and ABC Certified                        

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•Knowledge of and ability to abide by and enforce Health Food regulations and state, federal and corporate liquor regulation

•Ability to perform all of the basic functions of a banquet server and bartender

•Extensive knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and general etiquette

•Ability to problem solve and make in the moment decisions to best execute event operations 

•Ability to listen, effectively accomplish all necessary tasks pertaining to the job description, and communicate across all departments

•Behaves ethically and carries out all Marc & Rose steps of service

•Communicates effectively: speaks and listens in a clear, thorough, and timely manner, effectively reading and writing, using the English language sufficient to understand menus, knows ingredients in food prepared, and to communicate with guests and service team

•Professional Appearance: exhibits an appropriate and well-groomed appearance (Specific grooming standards are available for review)
