The General Manager at Hampton Inn is responsible for overseeing all hotel operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, managing staff, and driving financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management: The General Manager is the primary leader of the hotel, responsible for all aspects of operations, including front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, and maintenance. They ensure that the hotel meets brand standards and operational procedures.
- Guest Satisfaction:A critical duty is to maintain high levels of guest satisfaction. This includes handling guest complaints, overseeing service recovery processes, and ensuring that all guests receive a warm and welcoming experience.
- Staff Management: The General Manager leads and develops the hotel team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations. They foster a positive work environment and ensure that staff are engaged and motivated to provide excellent service.
- Financial Oversight: Managing the hotel's budget and financial performance is essential. The General Manager analyzes P&L statements, develops revenue strategies, and ensures that financial goals are met. They work closely with the revenue management and sales teams to optimize occupancy and revenue.
- Strategic Planning: The General Manager develops short- and long-term strategic goals for the hotel, focusing on performance improvement and growth. This includes participating in sales calls and community events to promote the hotel and attract new business.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and fire regulations is a key responsibility. The General Manager must maintain a safe environment for both guests and staff.
- Community Engagement: The General Manager often represents the hotel in community events and initiatives, building relationships that can enhance the hotel's reputation and business opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a General Manager or Assistant General Manager in a branded hotel environment (IHG/Marriott/Hilton experience preferred).
- Strong financial acumen with demonstrated success managing budgets and driving profitability.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and build cohesive teams in a fast-paced hospitality setting.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on guest satisfaction.
- Familiarity with hotel management systems (PMS, revenue management, labor systems).
