Chief Engineer

Full-Time

We are currently seeking a Full Time Chief Engineer. The Chief Engineer is responsible for supervising the Engineering staff in a union environment. In addition, the Chief Engineer is responsible for supporting the overall operation, repair and maintenance of the hotel including guest rooms, public areas, back of the house, machinery, and equipment. The candidate must be a fluent in written and spoken English.

The Chief Engineer is responsible for leading the engineering team to provide excellent service to our guests while maintaining the operations of the entire building.

• Responsible for overall operations of the Engineering Department, including training and development.
• Responsible for compliance with the hotel's internal and external audits related to Safety & Security, Quality Assurance, Fire Inspections, Hotel Major Equipment, OSHA, and ADA
• Responsible for coordinating repairs and overseeing renovations, capital construction and major maintenance projects
• Responsible for developing, maintaining records and refining the preventive maintenance program for guest rooms and mechanical equipment
• Responsible for inventory & supplies of the Engineering shop
• The position reports to the General Manager, with a dotted line reporting to the Managing Agent
• As a department head, the Chief Engineer might be required to work day/night shifts and weekdays/weekends including Holidays as needed
• Experienced in the capacity of a Hotel Engineer and Engineering Management in a Union hotel environment
• Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail
• Ability to repair and maintain various pieces of building and grounds equipment – the ability to train others in same
• Ability to operate mechanical equipment and various tools
• Ensure proper operation, maintenance and repair of HVAC Systems, Boilers, PTAC Units, Water and Booster Pumps
• Experience in Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, Lighting and Locks
• NYC FSD Certification(s), HVAC Certifications a plus
