The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, safety, and functionality of the resort grounds. This role supports daily landscaping, grounds maintenance, and outdoor upkeep to ensure the resort consistently meets the Jellystone Park Petoskey standards.
Perform general grounds maintenance, including trash removal, shoveling, and basic repairs using hand tools, power tools, and landscaping equipment (mowers, blowers, drills, saws, etc.)
Maintain lawns and landscaped areas by mowing, trimming, weed control, weed whipping, raking leaves, planting flowers and shrubs, spreading mulch, woodchips, or stone, and trimming hedges
Remove tree limbs or debris damaged by weather conditions
Inspect irrigation systems regularly and perform basic repairs as needed
Collect trash and debris from common areas and roadways daily; empty trash receptacles as required
Identify and report maintenance issues or safety concerns to management
Ensure the resort remains clean, safe, and presentable at all times
Safely operate vehicles and equipment required to perform job duties
Follow all safety policies and procedures
Complete other duties and special projects as assigned
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous groundskeeping or landscaping experience, preferably in a resort or hospitality environment
Working knowledge of general grounds maintenance techniques
Ability to work outdoors in seasonal weather conditions
Valid driver’s license required
Experience operating hand tools, power equipment, and commercial machinery
Ability to complete basic written reports legibly
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Part-time, seasonal position
