Our company

The Element by Westin Seattle Downtown is looking for a Sales Manager to join our team. We are managed by Puget Sound Hospitality which owns and operates 6 hotels in the Puget sound area.

The details

Location: 601 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109.

Commute/Transportation: We are located near several bus routes and offer a discounted annual ORCA pass. If you prefer to drive, we offer free parking to all of our employees in our underground garage.

Salary range: $80,168.40 to $84,000 annual plus potential to earn a 10% quarterly bonus based on meeting established sales goals. This position is exempt for the purpose of overtime. 

Benefits: Our manager benefits package is available after 30 days of employment. This package includes medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D. We also have 6 paid holidays.

PTO is accrued at 0.0538 hours per hour starting on day 1 of employment.

We partner with Colonial life to offer supplemental insurance options such as accident, short term disability, and whole life during our annual enrollment.

We have a 401(K) retirement plan available to all employees who are 21+ and have been employed for 6 months.

We offer Marriott employee room rates as well as Marriott friends and family room rates that can be used based on availability at any Marriott location worldwide.

Reports to: Director of Sales

Summary

The Sales Manager will generate group business in designated market segment and maximize revenue profitability using proactive sales activities in accordance with established hotel brand standards. 

The daily job duties

Work cohesively with the brand, hotel(s), and revenue management to book group business by promptly responding to leads through various online networks, cold calling and visiting local businesses in the downtown metropolitan area.

  • Analyze booking trends and adjust sales focus accordingly.
  • Identify new revenue opportunities within existing accounts and emerging market segments.
  • Manage RFPs and proposal strategies for larger or more complex opportunities.
  • Represent the hotel(s) in market meetings, events, and client engagements.
  • Improve hotel(s) visibility by conducting outside sales calls/blitzes, attending trade shows and market segment related events
  • Manage workflow through the Sales system, properly responding and filing data according to company and brand standards.
  • Perform the required job functions with a high attention of detail and efficiency.
  • Organize, prioritize and follow-up with a sense of urgency
  • Meet or exceed established monthly, quarterly and annual targeted sales goals and profit margins
  • Maintain an active list of accounts to ensure continuous relationship development
  • Develop and execute monthly focused and aggressive action plans
  • Communicate with internal business partners on upcoming group needs, VIP clients, meeting functions. 
  • Maintain and secure repeat business through client satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry and trends in market, particularly amongst competitor set.
  • Maintains regular attendance and is consistently on time.
  • Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include compliance with the dress code. 
  • Review weekly/monthly STAR reports and create action plans as assigned.
  • Communicate with Revenue Management and GM to ensure that pricing is appropriate and adjust selling strategies as needed.
  • Performs any other duties as requested by supervisor.

The Requirements

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED); college level sales / marketing classes or Business Degree preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. 
  • Ability to write simple correspondence. 
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to interpret and perform basic computer functions.
