Overview:

The Ski/Recreation Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the proper maintenance and care of the resort grounds and ski mountain area as directed by the Ski Area Recreation Manager. This position is intended for work on the mountain to create a high-quality ski hill area, snow product and ski/recreation experience by focusing on maintenance plans, duties and checklists that keep our operations moving efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance as needed on all ski lifts according to industry and manufacture recommendations.
• Maintenance includes line machinery repairs, hydraulic part maintenance, electrical work, non-destructive testing of welds on chair parts and grips, terminal repairs, inspections and all other maintenance duties.
• Maintenance on all of the ski area snowmaking, grooming, and tubing hill equipment.
• Ensure that all snowmaking equipment operates in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ensure high-quality snow production and snow grooming efficiency.
• Assist with daily ski operations when needed, including lift operations, ski patrol, tubing operations and all other winter activities.
• Operate all vehicles including snowmobiles and ATVs in a safe manner.
• Responsible for understanding full operation of each lift including transfer to auxiliary power as needed.
• Assists in training and breaking lift operations staff during winter ski season.
• Assist Ski Area Recreation Manager as needed on major lift repairs, projects, all training, hiring, managing labor and expense budgets.
• Coordinate work projects based on annual maintenance needs.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Set up, break down and move snowmaking equipment around the mountain as directed.
• Perform and document weekly, monthly and annual maintenance as described by manufactures, ANSI B77, maintaining checklists, etc.
  • Ski lift, lift chairs, magic carpet, J-bar
  • Mowing ski slopes (2 times minimum)
  • Inventory tracking and monitoring of parts for groomers, snow guns, tools, hardware, equipment and all other items needed for the job
  • Properly store and maintain ski area assets
  • Assist with general maintenance needs for the recreation department
• Mowing
• Downed tree removal
• Walking trail maintenance
• Gorge Hike trail bridge repairs and weed eating
• Assist with activities as needed including zipline maintenance

General Qualifications:

• Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task within a fast-paced environment.
• Must have prior experience with maintenance and running of Ski Lifts
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Subject to long periods of walking, standing, climbing and cold weather exposure
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50+ pounds.
• Must be able to operate chainsaws, weed trimmers, and other landscaping tools as required
• Must be able to walk up and down steep mountain terrain in a variety of winter and summer weather conditions
• Sets a standard by being to work on time and when scheduled.
• Creates a team environment to ensure a quality product.
• Provides constructive feedback to crewmembers.
• Works safety around all equipment including high-pressure air and water.
• Snowmobiles, Groomer, ATV, UTV operation and maintenance
• Recognize and report safety concerns to a manager immediately
• Maintains a professional attitude and appearance.
• Demonstrate initiative and versatility.
• Has a strong knowledge of the job and can effectively train others
• Willing to travel and attend training seminars
• Mechanical, electrical and hydraulic knowledge are required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and previous experience with small engine repair, diesel engines and low voltage systems and lift experience required
• Must be willing to work on lift towers at heights up to 50 feet.
• Must be willing to work in extreme winter summer weather conditions.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be strong team player.
• Must provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
• Must have good oral and written communication skills.
• Must have a good working knowledge of computers and different computer programs

Must have a flexible schedule and willing to work weekdays, weekends, days, nights, and holidays when needed.

Must be willing to help all areas of the recreation department when needed.
