Financial Controller- THE PARAMOUNT HOTEL

We’re looking for a self-starter with attention to detail to join our team. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, you’ll further your finance experience by assisting in the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, overseeing daily operation of the accounting department activities and internal control procedures ensuring compliance with all Federal, State and local regulations.

Position Summary

A Financial Controller at The Paramount oversees the accounting department functions with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting. The Financial Controller is responsible for maintaining and implementing proper procedures throughout the department as directed by the Director of Finance. A Financial Controller will work in a collaborative environment across various departments and assist and complete projects as necessary from the Director of Finance. A successful Financial Controller at The Paramount will drive the team performance and provide leadership and coaching to team members and provide the highest level of accounting to support to all guests and other departments as needed.

Role Responsibilities

Coordinate, organize and oversee the operations of the accounting department under the direction of Director of Finance and General Manager.
Prepare and/or review daily, weekly and monthly reports in accordance with reporting calendars, ensuring that all reports are submitted on a timely basis.
Assist in ensuring the accuracy of weekly payroll of all departments. Analyze and provide monthly explanations of variances.
Monitor and / or participate in inventories and ensure accurate reporting. Prepare and analyze cost analysis for Food & Beverage Bar lounge.
Maintain spending controls by departments and provide recommendations.
Maintain control over information posted to general ledger, reconciliation of general ledger account balances and ensure all financial transactions are reported in accordance with hotel controls and policies.
Assist in preparing forecasts projections, and monthly financial statements.
Assist in external and internal audits.
Assisting with and completing ad hoc projects as assigned by Director of Finance and Hotel management including, but not limited to budgets and forecasts
Assist in preparing 1099s
Schedule flexibility to complete all month-end tasks and be able to prioritize and adapt to accomplish all responsibilities

Qualifications

Knowledge of Opera (PMS), Accounting Systems and Software, and advance MS Excel
Must be highly adept at spreadsheet formulation
Previous relevant managerial and accounting experience required
Bachelor's degree required
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Able to multi-task and work effectively at a fast pace
Excellent written and verbal command of English language
Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with internal/external contacts both in written and verbal format
Ability to prioritize without supervision
Ability to read and interpret business records and statistical reports
Ability to use mathematical skills to interpret financial information and prepare reports
Ability to deal with the general public, guests and TM’s with professionalism and courtesy
Organized and attentive to detail
Timely, trustworthy, reliable and takes accountability
Adheres to all hotel appearance and conduct standards
Must be able to work well as part of a team, and while working unsupervised
Must have a mature, professional, and calm demeanor, to complete all tasks and responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner
Required to perform the customer service standards of the department
