Job Responsibilities

The General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and overall performance of the hotel, overseeing all departments to ensure cleanliness, brand compliance, safety, and service excellence. This role conducts regular property inspections to evaluate conditions, identify risks, and uphold quality standards.

The General Manager ensures full compliance with company policies, brand standards, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and developing hotel associates to build a positive, accountable, and high-performing culture. The role provides ongoing coaching, completes performance evaluations, and administers corrective action when necessary.

As a visible and engaged leader, the General Manager leads by example and maintains an approachable presence across all shifts. Financial responsibilities include preparing and managing the annual operating budget, monitoring labor and operating expenses, and overseeing all accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense reporting. The General Manager reviews monthly financial statements and guest service metrics to identify trends and implement corrective actions.

The role champions a culture of service excellence by monitoring guest feedback, addressing service concerns promptly, and continuously improving guest satisfaction scores. In partnership with the revenue management and sales teams, the General Manager develops and executes strategies to optimize occupancy, ADR, and RevPAR while supporting local sales initiatives and cultivating a strong market-driven business mix.

The General Manager ensures compliance with labor laws and company policies related to scheduling, attendance, and workplace conduct. This role fosters an inclusive, respectful work environment by recognizing achievements, celebrating team success, and encouraging collaboration.

Safety and security are key priorities. The General Manager enforces hotel safety protocols, emergency procedures, and key control policies while maintaining a safe, hazard-free environment for guests and associates. All incidents are documented, addressed, and reported appropriately, and the team is trained and compliant with required safety standards.

The General Manager represents the hotel positively within the local community through networking, partnerships, and active involvement. This role promotes the hotel and company brand to drive awareness, loyalty, and long-term relationships. Prompt and professional communication with guests, associates, and corporate partners is expected at all times. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as business needs evolve.


Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, Business Administration, or a related field required

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Hotel General Manager, preferably within a select-service or full-service environment

  • At least three (3) years of supervisory experience in hotel operations, with hands-on exposure to Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage

  • Prior brand experience with Hilton, Marriott, IHG, or similar hotel brands preferred

  • Proven leadership, team development, and communication skills

  • Proficiency with computers, smartphones, and standard office software; ability to learn and utilize hotel operating systems

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities as business needs require


Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds independently

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, twisting, and use of hands and arms throughout the workday

  • Ability to move throughout all hotel areas, including guest rooms, laundry facilities, mechanical spaces, and outdoor areas

  • Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and remain composed under pressure

  • Sufficient visual and auditory acuity to monitor activity, assess property conditions, and communicate clearly
