SUMMARY:

The Senior Catering Sales Manager is responsible for sales, planning and coordination of all weddings and social event business. Directs, implements and maintains a service and management philosophy which serves as a guide to respective staff to ensure 100% guest satisfaction.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree required and a minimum of two years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Hospitality experience, ideally within Resort, Private Country or Hotel environment desired.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • High Volume Catering Sales with ability to sell multiple venues within Pinehurst Resort Campus
  • Book and coordinate a variety of events concentrating on weddings and high end social catering functions
  • Targets group/catering accounts, markets, or segments with heavy emphasis on proactive solicitation and account saturation
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends in culinary, wedding and social markets
  • Implement a monthly action plan in order to meet and exceed budgeted sales goals
  • Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual production reports; as well as weekly and monthly sales activity reports
  • Maintains accurate and detailed notes and traces for accounts within the Catering Database.
  • Responds to incoming group/catering opportunities for the property
  • Identifies, qualifies and solicits new catering business to achieve personal and property revenue goals 
  • Focuses efforts on group/catering accounts with significant potential sales revenue
  • Maximizes revenue by upselling packages and creative food and beverage
  • Develops effective catering sales plans and actions
  • Closes the best opportunities for property based on market conditions and individual property needs
  • Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings. Achieved through Sales calls, entertainment, trade shows, and catering showcase
  • Builds and strengthens relationships with Resort departments to insure successful events 
  • Previous structured sales training is a plus
  • Wedding Certified is a plus

Karen DiCarloDirector of Event Services and CateringKaren joined the Pinehurst team in 2002 as a Conference Services Manager. She previously worked for both Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Interstate Hotels where she developed an extensive operational background having managed the front desk, beverage and night audit departments before moving into sales. As Director of Event Services & Catering, Karen oversees all aspects of conference planning, catering sales and event production & décor. Her husband Dan, is a golf professional at Longleaf Golf & Family club.
Eric KuesterVP of Sales & Business DevelopmentEric started his career with Pinehurst in 2002 in the Rooms Division as a Front Office associate. He rejoined Pinehurst in 2004 as a member of the Group Sales Team and in the fall of 2014 was named Director of Group Sales where he also handled responsibility over the corporate Northeast market. He was given new business development and partnerships in 2015. As Vice President of Sales & Business Development he oversees all sales for Pinehurst Resort which includes Group, Social/Leisure, and Event Services. Eric, a native of Charlotte, lives in the Village of Pinehurst with wife Katie and their three sons, Wells, Ford and Bo. He is an avid golfer and a graduate of North Carolina State University.
