Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:
The part-time overnight houseperson will maintain the cleanliness of guest floor corridors, foyers, stairwell, public space and public vending areas, fold linens and assist night audit in order to maintain high standards of quality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Remove room service food trays from the guest corridors.

Maintain the cleanliness of public space (atrium, lobby, public restrooms, vending areas, corridors and stairwells)

Fold linens and towels

Relieve night audit for breaks

Delivery of amenities to guests as requested.

Stock "The Market" with food, beverage and sundry items.

Conduct nightly security walks inside and outside the hotel.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, the overnight houseman may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

AM walk of the parking lot to remove trash

Respond to guest questions. Provide guest assistance, directions, and information as requested.

Provide instruction and/or guidance for guest and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations.

Other duties as assigned such as assisting night audit with phones or guest interaction as requested.

Job Requirements

Required Experience:

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Ability to lift, bend, stoop, walk, push or pull heavy equipment, and stand for extended periods of time. Lifting may include equipment or furniture weighing up to 50 lbs.

Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.

Ability to learn and apply hazardous chemical training standards during new hire introductory period.

Basic ability to comprehend the English language sufficient to understand and communicate information for reasons such as safety and security; for example product safety labels and emergency instructions.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education:
Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Experience:
Previous janitorial experience preferred.

Licenses or certificates:
None required.

After more than 20 years leading what is today Spire Hospitality, DeForrest serves as the Vice Chairman of the company. Under Bill’s leadership, Spire Hospitality established itself as one of the leading and most respected hotel management companies, and Bill continues to be involved in its growth in the Vice Chairman role. DeForrest earned an MBA from the University of Denver and has served on numerous boards, state hotel associations, industry leadership groups and charitable foundations, including The Summit Foundation, Utah Hotel & Lodging Association and local resort association boards. He currently serves on IHG Owners Association board of directors and was previously chairman of the association. DeForrest led more than 6,000 members of IHG Owners Association as global chairman in 2011.

Chris RussellChief Executive OfficerIndustry veteran overseeing a diverse portfolio of assets from Marriott, Hilton, IHG and independent hotels. Previously led Archon Hospitality, the in-house hotel management company for a Goldman Sachs subsidiary. Archon sold in 2011 and the business was rebranded Pillar Hotels & Resorts where Russell remained President/CEO managing over $2 billion of assets consisting of 260 hotels in 45 states with 8,000 employees.
