The Best Western Gold Rush Inn is looking for a conscientious Front Desk Manager to oversee the front desk operations and lead a fun and dynamic team of individuals. In this role, you will be required to greet and welcome guests, tend to their questions and complaints, manage booking and appointment schedules, and ensure that the reception area is professionally maintained. To be a successful front desk manager, you should possess strong time management and organizational skills and be financially minded. A top-notch front desk manager should provide exceptional customer service and strong leadership skills. Job Requirements


Front Desk Manager Responsibilities: 

· Responsible for the running of the front desk by hiring and training all front desk agents and leading by example 

· Defining and implementing front desk objectives and procedures.

· Schedule the front office staff and supervise workload during shifts 

· Tending to guests' complaints and questions and providing exceptional customer service. 

· Ensuring that the front desk and reception area is kept clean and organized. 

· Maintaining front desk office supplies and equipment. 

· Assist in the development and monitoring of the budget to provide top quality customer service 

· Conducting performance reviews with the front desk staff. 

· Generating reports and feedback for presentation to the general manager. 

· Performing administrative duties such as filing and updating records, among others, as needed. 

· Perform other duties as requested by management.

Front Desk Manager Requirements: 

· High school diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree in hospitality or similar considered an asset. 

· A minimum of one year of hotel front desk supervisory experience. 

· Good understanding of procedures and practices in the hospitality industry. 

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· The ability to provide exceptional customer service. 

· Good leadership and training abilities.

Dylan SooCorporate SecretaryDylan holds a Masters Degree at Royal Roads University in International Hotel Management as well as a Certificate in Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management from Cornell online. He is one of the longest serving members of NVD, being a part of the company since 2009 after moving from Vancouver where was born and raised. Prior to moving up from Vancouver, Dylan spend time working at some of the most prestigious properties in BC including the world renowned Relais & Chateaux, Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino and the AAA Five Diamond Awarded Sutton Place Hotel in Vancouver. Dylan was also fortunate to be part of a new development in 2007 with the Sidney Pier Hotel & Spa where he took an interest in building hotels from the ground up. With almost 25 years of hospitality experience, Dylan has spearheaded a team of professionals that has seen the hotel portfolio grow from two properties to six and an asset value of over $40 million. At this time due to the make up and skill of the team, he was able to step into new roles for NVD including business development and board/investor relations. He continues to look forward to rounding out his skill set within NVD and is excited for the growth opportunity of the company, both from a career stand point and as a company investment standpoint. In his spare time, Dylan loves to spend time teaching his kids to cook, play sports, and travel with them to other places in the world. He is a self proclaimed foodie and is fascinated with all types of cuisine. He developed the Yukon Burger Challenge which saw numerous restaurants compete for the best burgers over three different summers. In between work and family life Dylan has sat on various committees & boards including the Yukon Quest, Yukon College Hospitality Steering Committee, and Tourism Industry Association of Yukon HR and Culinary Tourism committees.
