Job Description


All Cooks of Aqua Ridge of Montclair are key team members, maintaining full accountability for fulfillment of the mission of Aqua Ridge of Montclair. This position is responsible for producing quality meals in accordance with established menu cycles, recipes and food standards and maintaining resident satisfaction.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have criminal record clearance prior to initial presence in the community
  • Must have passed post offer health physical and drug screen
  • TB test results within 7 days of hire and a health screen within 30 days of hire (when transferring test results TB or health screen will not be older than 6 months)
  • Current Food Handlers Permit for state/ county in which employed
  • Professional experience in food volume preparation
  • Experience in proper food handling, preparation and storage
  • Willing and able to adapt to changes in kitchen routine at any given time
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs / push/pull/carry up to 30 lbs, constant standing and frequent walking required.

Job Requirements

Core Responsibilities: This position provides for a high level of customer service to both residents and team members. This position is responsible for assisting with the receipt, storage, preparation, and presentation of food as required by the Culinary and for adhering to safety practices for the community according to Aqua Ridge of Montclair’s policies and procedures and federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Attractively prepare meals that are appealing and tasty
  • Prepare special limited diets per policy
  • Prepare meals in a timely manner to ensure they are served on time
  • Identify menu errors and makes appropriate corrections as needed, bring the necessary changes to the Culinary Director’s/Culinary Coordinator’s attention
  • Ensure all menu changes are reviewed with the Culinary Director before changes are made; post menu change notice as required by regulations and policies and procedures
  • Keep kitchen clean, sanitary and orderly following cleaning schedule, including shelves and cooking surfaces
  • Cover, label, date and properly store all food items
  • Interact with residents in dining room after everyone is served to determine resident satisfaction of meals
  • Maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and foods; assist Culinary Director in ordering
  • Place food items in appropriate places (dry storage, refrigerator, freezer, etc.) after delivery
  • Monitor refrigerators and freezer temperatures on a daily basis, notifying Culinary Director of any temperatures out of range
  • Document time and temperature of entrée’s per policy
  • Ensure a high standard of resident satisfaction
  • Ensure that all room service trays are properly prepared
  • Ensure safety standards are met
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment in a safe and clean manner
  • Operate the kitchen to meet company policies and state and local regulations
  • Properly store, date and rotate food per food handling guidelines
