Founded in 1854, The Philadelphia Cricket Club is the oldest country club in the United States. The Club is recognized as a Platinum Club of America by Club Leaders Forum and a Distinguished Emerald Club of the World by Board Room Magazine.

The Club has a rich sporting heritage of which we take great pride. PCC offers golf, tennis, squash, paddle, pool, and trapshooting across two campuses to nearly 1600 members. The St. Martin's Campus is located in the historic Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia. With 45 exceptionally maintained holes of golf, our Club has the unique ability to say we provide members the opportunity to play on courses built in each of the last 3 centuries.

The Controller at PCC has a leadership role under the CFO in our Accounting team, with responsibility for 3 direct reports. We offer our office staff an excellent work-life balance, with flexibility being a key benefit to this role.

Job Requirements


Key responsibilities of the Controller role include:

  • Maintain a system of accounting records and techniques.
  • Complete accurate budget data entry, compilation, and reporting to all departments.
  • Conduct internal audits to assess financial status.
  • Learn and utilize Northstar software to ensure all financials are properly reported and reconciled.
  • Daily oversight of all financial operations in all areas of the Club.
  • Oversight of all aspects of financial analysis and reporting.
  • Act as a key resource to management, the Board, committees and employees regarding all financial policies and procedures.
  • Completion of month-end close and period dashboard reports.
  • Communication within department and across the club to ensure all financial reporting is completed timely and accurately.
  • Ensure daily/weekly/monthly/annual functions are completed timely and accurately.
  • Monitor all financial data and report on it monthly to member Finance Committee.
  • Prepare for and oversee all aspects of review audits.
  • Act as primary contact for external auditors, providing all required information, including 990 tax return data.
  • Complete renewals of all permits and licenses as needed.
  • 5 or more years of progressive experience in the Accounting field; prior experience in the hospitality industry is preferred.
  • Technical ability in computer software, including Microsoft Office (Excel in particular); prior experience with Northstar software a plus.
  • Ability to effectively interact with and present financial data to Members and staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to deliver reports and projects thoroughly and within required timelines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven success in managing, motivating, and developing staff.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field; MBA preferred

Chef Ben BurgerExecutive ChefChef Ben Burger has been at the helm of the PCC culinary team as Executive Chef since 2011. Prior to working at The Philadelphia Cricket Club, Chef Ben was the Executive Sous Chef at Piping Rock Club in Locust Valley, New York and Executive Chef at Tokeneke Club in Darien, Connecticut. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Jaclyn, daughter, Alyssa, son, Bryce, and the family dog Hamilton, aka “Hamburger.”
Linda CozziCFO & St. Martins General ManagerLinda Cozzi has been the Chief Finance Officer at The Philadelphia Cricket Club since March 2012. Linda started in her position by implementing more effective procedures and policies to improve the organization’s finances, and her department now produces financial results in a third of the time and with far more accuracy. Other processes, such as billing and annual audit activities, have had similar improvements in timeliness and quality. Linda was recognized as the CFO of the Year by the Philadelphia Business Journal in July 2015. In October 2018, Linda added the role of St. Martins General Manager and looks forward to using her leadership in operations. Linda is also an advocate for women’s concerns in leadership and the workplace. Linda serves as Treasurer for two local non-profit organizations: Philadelphia Club Foundation, which provides scholarships for education of students and Club Managers, and Ella’s Retreat, which provides housing for families traveling to Philadelphia seeking pediatric cancer treatment. Linda received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Masters of Business Administration in Finance from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Jim Smith, JrCOO/Director of Golf & Flourtown GMJim Smith, Jr. Jim Smith Jr. joined PCC as Director of Golf in 2006 following ten years as the General Manager and Director of Golf at Talamore at Oak Terrace Golf & County Club. Recognized as one of the leading PGA Professionals in the country, Jim has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the Philadelphia PGA Golf Professional of the Year; the Philadelphia PGA Bill Strausbaugh Award (twice); Philadelphia PGA Merchandiser of the Year; Golf World Top-100 Golf Shop; Philadelphia Magazine Top-25 Instructor; and more. Jim is one of just 50 professionals in the country to be a member of Callaway Golf’s Master Staff Professional program. Jim's leadership skills led to his spending ten years on the Executive Committee and Board of the Philadelphia PGA, including a two-year term as President. In his 20+ years as a PGA Professional, Jim has taken a special interest in mentoring and guiding his fellow golf professionals and co-workers to bigger and better opportunities. To date, Twenty-three of his former staff have moved on to various head professional, Director of Golf, Director of Outside Operations, and Director of Merchandising positions at places like Canoe Brook Country Club, Andover Country Club, Riverton County Club, St. David's Golf Club, Merion Golf Club, Whitemarsh Valley Country Club, Philadelphia Country Club, Union League Golf Club, Indian Valley Country Club, Talamore Golf Club, and more. Jim is a lifetime resident of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania and a member of the Jenkintown High School Hall of Fame.
