Job Description

Position: Bartender/Server

Reports To: Operations Manager

Job Summary

The Bartender is the face of our Resort Bars and by far one the key contributors to our Food & Beverage experience. Providing a warm welcome and equally warm farewell are key aspects of the role. Exemplary guest service and performing as a true team-player shall be provided throughout to ensure that our guests’ expectations are not just met; but exceeded! We take great pride in our team-members being attentive, efficient, and fully embracing of our company's goal to deliver the best in guest service. The bartender knows how to follow brand directives and standards to the highest level. Handling guests at the bar, clearing and setting tables, serving food, handling cash and credit card charges, communicating room charges to Front Desk, serving alcohol, stocking and cleaning the bar, and coordinating guest requests are the primary functions of the job.

Key Responsibilities

• Taking food and beverage orders in our bars and restaurant outlets

• Setting up, cleaning and stocking the Bar

• Conduct wine service

• Cocktail making, executing to recipe

• Expedite and serve guest Food & Beverage orders with knowledge, efficiency and enthusiasm!

• Upsell Food & Beverage orders for the Bar & Restaurant outlets

• Perform suggestive selling techniques

• Handle cash / credit card / in-house room account transactions through Micros POS systems with care and efficiency

• Coordinating room charges for in-house and local guests with the Resort Front Desk

• Banquet setup, service & tear-down

Clear and reset tables, replenish condiments and conduct routine cleaning/re-stocking

of bar back areas

• Assisting in inventory taking

• Participate in a guest daily events activities as hosted at the Bar

• Assist with managing tablescapes and dining décor setup and service for any weekly

activities and functions. Serve and host cocktail party service for our guests.

• Provide barista service at our automated coffee station in the Restaurant, creating and

serving drinks to recipe with energy and enthusiasm as guests prepare for their dive day!

• Working with a front desk responding efficiently to guest requests in keeping with the

company's standards and service philosophy

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Abilities

• 3+ years experience in a Bartending and/or Server position, preferably in a 4-5 star


• Experience with and good understanding of Micros POS

• A positive, outgoing, and buoyant attitude and a radiant smile! You understand

attentive guest engagement in addition to being a team-player

• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills

• Caribbean, Overseas, remote Resort or Cruise Ship experience an asset

• Standing for most of duration of shift lifting, and cleaning

• You can comfortably lift a 20lt beer keg

• You can comfortably lift a case of bottled beer, wine or spirits

• Ability to relocate overseas and produce a clean valid police clearance

GunaHead ChefChef Guna is from Chennai, India, where he learned to prepare fine food and beautiful plating. He was inspired by an uncle—a chef who created artistry with his food. Chef Guna has made Cayman his home for many years and his nightly plating of the day’s entrées looks like what you’d expect to see at any prestigious restaurant. It’s no secret that Chef’s food also tastes every bit as delicious as it looks. Chef Guna honed and perfected his skills at Royal Caribbean Cruise Line where he was named employee of the year, at the Marriott Dubai, and at several restaurants on Grand Cayman before joining the team at Cobalt Coast as Head Chef. He combines fresh ingredients and seasonings to create excellent taste, flavors, and smells so guests leave feeling as if they’ve feasted with all of their senses. When not working, Chef Guna uses the Internet to communicate with his family back in India or heads to Grand Cayman’s beaches to relax in the beauty of the Caribbean.
IngridRestaurant Team LeaderIngrid is from Montego Bay, Jamaica, and entered the hospitality industry there as a personal concierge for families staying at the resort where she worked. She had to be an expert in all aspects of caring for tourists, because that’s what was expected of her. Her goal is to make all of our guests feel very special so they enjoy their vacation to the fullest and come back again and again.... Ingrid excelled at singing, drama, and netball (similar to basketball) while in school and now has four children. Since arriving on Little Cayman, she has made many really big life changes. Ingrid has learned to ride a bike and drive. She has also learned to swim and snorkel and just recently became a certified diver!
RafiBartender & ServerMeet Rafi Bartender at Little Cayman Beach Resort. To him, the label “bartender” is no more accurate at describing his skill than “nice water” describes our Cayman Caribbean. Rafi has elevated making cocktails to an art form with the fine-tuned flair of flipping bottles and the “hand magic” he employs while making special drinks. His father worked in the hotel industry, which inspired Rafi to make hospitality his own career. At 14, he started working in a hotel kitchen, and after further education and training, he became a server, then a bartender, and ultimately a mixologist who blends entertainment into creating and serving drinks. Rafi has won awards for his skill, including a recent third-place finish in the Taste of Cayman with his own Rapture of the Deep concoction. “I just want guests to feel happy,” said Rafi, who is also an expert at making classic cocktails of the 70s and 80s. “Besides getting better at my craft, I want to learn to swim and explore this beautiful underwater world here on Little Cayman.”
RachelleGuest Services Team-memberAs a part of the Guest Services Team, I always believe that I am the face of the Company as we are the very first point of contact for all new and repeat guests. We must have friendly smiling faces, a talent for multitasking and superb organizational skills. We perform essential duties such as greet and welcome the guests, ensure a seamless check in and check out, answer all guest’s queries, emails and incoming calls and a whole lot more! As my role is the key to the Front of House Hotel experience I anticipate my daily tasks may involve other guest service tasks such as concierge assistance and even greeting and performing hostess duties in the Restaurants. Life in Paradise is never truly quiet! No matter which role I am performing that day, my goal is to always provide our guests with superb customer service and go an extra mile to exceed their expectations!
