Job summary Set up Banquet Rooms 30 minutes prior to function in a friendly, courteous and professional manner according to The Overton Hotel and Conference Center’s high standards of quality. The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below or though the exercise of sound, reasonable judgment and initiative in the performance of job responsibilities. Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. Summary of essential job functions 1. Set up and break down banquet rooms as instructed by Banquet Captain or Banquet Manager to include but not limited to tables and chairs. 2. Thoroughly vacuum and clean banquet rooms prior to set-up 3. Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner 4. Accommodates special customers needs, hanging banners for meetings and food/beverage functions. 5. Assist groups in unloading boxes and equipment if requested. 6. Complete special projects as directed by department manager. 7. Once banquet is complete, reset banquet room according to the Captain’s specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for the following function. 8. Other activities and responsibilities that you will be asked to perform in management’s judgment.
Educational/Experience Requirements 1. Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities 2. Must have and maintain T.A.B.A.C certification and Certified Food handlers 3. Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certifications Abilities Required 1. Must be able to work flexible hours. 2. Basic knowledge of English sufficient to understand inquires from customers and communicate simple instructions 3. Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel 4. Ability to transport up to 30 lbs on a continuous basis throughout the shift. 5. Must be able to handle chemicals in a safely manner. 6. Must be able to follow instruction and be attentive to detail.
