The BANQUET HOUSEPERSON PM is responsible to ensure proper set-up and break down of all Banquet functions.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, include but not limited to:

  • To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner, deferring to the Banquet Manager when necessary, to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • To extend a courteous, friendly, and professional greeting to guests as they arrive, and to thank them as they depart.
  • To make the manager aware of all guest comments and complaints.
  • To set-up all meeting rooms according to Banquet Event Orders and standards, including all audio-visual equipment, food, and beverages.
  • To check all banquet rooms daily and to immediately report any maintenance problems to the Engineering Department.
  • To follow specified procedures to break down and clean meeting rooms, including trash removal.
  • To assist Banquet wait staff, as directed, to bus tables, and set-up and replenish buffets.
  • To set-up and service all coffee break areas.

Job Requirements

JOB KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:  High school or equivalent education required. Able to speak, read and write English. Must have a minimum of two years prior experience in audio visual operations. May be required to have a valid California driver's license, and to show proof of personal automobile insurance coverage. Hotel or resort experience with high-end service preferred.

SKILLS AND APTITUDES: Detail oriented. Organized and efficient. Learns quickly. Safety-minded. High quality standards for production and service. Courteous and friendly manner. Good team player. Customer service focus. Able to work productively and independently with little supervision. Able to identify and solve a problem quickly and effectively. Trustworthy and reliable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Stands/walks throughout shift. Constantly required to handle and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. over short to moderate distances. Bends, stoops, reaches, and lifts to perform routine job tasks. Must be able to work under pressure. Uses stairs frequently throughout shift. Flexibility and good reflexes required to operate electric cart.

Cristina SchultzAssistant Director of Human ResourcesCristina Schultz has been with the Surf & Sand Resort’s Human Resources team since 2006. Her education started in her native country of Mexico, where she obtained a Law Degree from the Universidad Autonoma De Guadalajara. Cristina’s Human Resources professional career started in 2000 when she achieved her certificate in Human Resources at California State University, Long Beach. She has worked in HR in various positions such as HR Coordinator, Training Manager and Employment Manager. “Surf & Sand Resort and JC Resorts is my second home. It’s a privilege to work in a beautiful environment with such a wonderful team of professionals.”
Julie DoddDirector of Human ResourcesJulie Dodd has been leading the Human Resources team at Surf & Sand Resort since 2004. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in Hospitality Business and has held several positions within the industry; including restaurants, hotels, and private clubs. This diversity allows her to understand the ins and outs of various departments. In 1999, Julie accepted her first Human Resources opportunity and has remained in the HR field ever since. She is personally invested in a service culture where employees are supported and have their own voice. “Hospitality is a hardworking but equally rewarding industry.
