Do you have a passion for Accounting and have proven ability to work with extreme accuracy and detailed oriented? B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group invites you to join our team as our Regional Controller

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for overseeing the accounting function for two full-service hotels. Provides a wide variety of accounting services.

The Controller is responsible for, but not limited to the following duties and activities:

  1. This position will be required to follow all accounting standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with the B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group's internal controls and the accuracy of financial reporting.
  2. Adheres to B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group Standard Operating Procedures.
  3. Analyze productivity and financial reports and make recommendations for improvements.
  4. The ability to perform the functions of Month End Closing, Income Audit, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll Processing required.
  5. Oversee accounts receivable, ensuring timely billing and collection of accounts.
  6. Independently complete projects as assigned by the General Manager and Corporate Accounting.
  7. Identify areas for maximization of revenue for the hotel and restaurant.
  8. Advise all departments in maximizing efficiencies.
  9. Assists department managers in effectively managing labor costs, following procurement guidelines and apply good business judgment.
  10. Provides leadership support in maintaining established controls and standard procedures.
  11. Serves as a resource for all management and hourly staff.
  12. Identify and addresses guest billing concerns in a courteous and timely manner.
  13. Analyze work quality issues, identifies training needs and corrective measures to improve results.
  14. Ensures a clean and safe work environment.
  15. Responsible for effective self/workload management.
  16. Demonstrates clear communication.
  17. Promotes collaboration and positive, professional work environment.
  18. Responsible for the effective management of hourly staff including hiring decisions, performance expectations, training initiatives and rewards/recognition.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Skills and Abilities:
  • At least (7) years of experience as an Area Controller overseeing multiple full-service hotels.
  • A track record of progressive accounting experience including proficient use of spread sheet and word processing software.
  • Must have strong organizational & communication skills and a solid business focus.


Education
: Associates Degree in Accounting required.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis.

STEPHANIE HOVICE PRESIDENT OF HUMAN RESOURCESStephanie Ho is the Vice President of Human Resources of the B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group. In her role, Stephanie leads the Human Resources function for the group and is responsible for providing strategic, tactical leadership to fulfill the company's One team! values and culture, execute business strategies through the Hospitality team talent. Prior to joining the B. F. Saul Company, Stephanie had Regional Human Resources oversight, managing 25 full/select service hotels spanning 10 states. Prior to her Corporate career, she worked in unionized hotel properties in Washington DC as the Director of Human Resources. She also worked in Operations in various countries and held managerial positions in Sales before making a career move to Human Resources. Stephanie graduated with First Honors at Swiss Hotel Management School in Switzerland with a degree in International Hospitality Management. She currently serves as a co-chair for the American Hotel Lodging Association (AHLA) Career Development Committee. She also served as an Advisory Member for the DC Workforce Investment Council - Hospitality Intermediary Program. Stephanie currently resides in a lake house in Reston, VA, with her husband and daughter. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys hosting meals for her loved ones and exploring the DC restaurant scene.
MARK G. CARRIER, CHAPRESIDENTMark G. Carrier is the senior officer of the B. F. Saul Company Hospitality Group. The B. F. Saul Company is a privately held diversified real estate and finance concern based in the Washington DC area.
