Summary Description
The AM Floor Captain is someone who will assist with service in every way a server may but will take on extra responsibilities to be sure that all SOP’s, checklists, and quality of service is up kept. They are in direct contact with the Managers on Duty with all needs for the restaurant. They are the standard bearer of service in the restaurant. They are also responsible to make sure that the next shift is set up for success.
Responsibilities And Authorities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Engage with guests and colleagues in a professional manner
- Take part in and oversee pre-service duties, side work, and applicable closing duties
- Review a restaurant opening checklist before the start of operation
- Seat guests and, in the absence of a host, distribute menus
- Ensure guests’ orders are correct and delivered from the kitchen in a timely manner
- Be familiar with the menu, wine list and, if applicable, entertainment offerings presented by the Hotel
- Throughout the meal, check in on the diners, answer and resolve any issues that have arisen
- Accurately prepare checks and accept payment
- Uphold service standards to ensure a memorable guest experience
- Oversee the team of servers who are assigned to his/her shift
- Assign sections
- Voids/Comps
- Close out reports during transition between AM and PM shifts
- Primary Trainer for new hires
- Train in familiarity with the facility, policies, processes for serving customers and any other hotel initiatives
- Act as liaison between the kitchen team and servers in both directions.
- When the kitchen runs out of dishes on them menu, the captain will communicate the information to the team so they can offer other options to guests.
- When we have an issue with a missing item/missed order the captain will communicate with the kitchen
- Maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized work environment
- Develop relationships with guests in order to provide personalized service and repeat guests
- Communicate and work with the kitchen team, bussers, and managers, to ensure guest satisfaction
- Perform job-related activities as required or assigned by a supervisor/manager
- Communicate with Front Desk regarding any room charge issues
- Communicate any issues that have arisen with to the MOD
- Assist with ambiance management
Requirements
- 5 years elevated/fine dining serving experience
