Award winning Country Inn & Suites By Carlson in the heart of Silicon Valley is seeking an energetic and detail oriented part time Cook who is looking to be a part of our fun and dynamic work environment.


Compensation is based off of assessment and experience, with benefits and potential for growth into a full time role. Cooks are an essential part of our F&B team. In addition to maintaining overall organization and cleanliness of our kitchen, Cooks also provide exceptional service while responsible for cost effective preparation and plating of food to exceed the expectations of our guests.



Responsibilities:



1. Prepare and plate food in a cost effective and efficient manner, including:



* Food prepared and served in accordance with recipes, photos and menus.

* Inspect food before being served to guests to ensure consistent quality and guest delivery

* Sets up for meals by ensuring proper amounts are in place for forecasted covers, special functions, and any reservations

* As requested, creates food and beverage requisitions to meet estimated demand

* Ensures consistency in portion

* As requested, completes inventory and restocks

* Prepares work checklist and/or completes work/shift checklist and organizes work stations for each shift

* Ability to manage and cost control food budget



2. Adheres to safety and security standards, including:



* Work area and equipment is cleaned, maintained and organized

* Ensuring proper equipment operation

* Working knowledge of state and local health laws relating to sanitation and food storage and handling

* Follow any internal, state and local health laws/guidelines/procedures to ensure food and beverage safety for guests

* Ensure kitchen is readied for next shift

* Responsible for labeling and dating all items placed in walk and/or reach-ins

* Receive passing score on inspections



3. Aligns with the "Be Our Guest" service standards to build and reinforce skills that create a lasting service culture that provides caring, comfortable and consistent experiences.



* Gives personal attention, takes personal responsibility and uses teamwork when providing guest service

* Listens, apologizes with empathy, finds a solution and follows through when resolving guest problems

* Provides genuine hospitality and teamwork on an ongoing basis

* Assumes the responsibility to notice when the guest is not satisfied and works to resolve

* Performs other duties required to provide the service brand behavior and genuine hospitality



Requirements:



* Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years cooking experience

* Works well independently or as part of a team

* Strong attention to detail

* Ability to create and manage the budget process

* Commitment to exceptional guest service

* Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude when handling all situations

* Adhere to the policies and procedures of the hotel

* Ability to work a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends

* Demonstrated technical skills for the food and beverage area

* Appropriate permits, where applicable (i.e., beverage server)



Physical Requirements:



* Long hours are sometimes required, ability to work flexible schedule

* Ability to stand for long periods of time

* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and push or pull up to 75 pounds

* Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment

* Ability to stand for long periods of time

* Must be able to squat, bend, kneel and twist on an ongoing basis
