JOB SUMMARY

The Workers' Compensation and Safety Manager will oversee workers' compensation in multiple states, and act as the liaison between local properties and our corporate offices. The Workers' Compensation and Safety Manager is responsible for developing and enhancing policies and procedures to protect employees and ensure claim related costs are within target range.

Responsibilities include:

* Understand and operationalize strategies, programs, policies, and procedures for reporting, investigation, and analysis of claims, litigation management, resolution/outcome management, and delivery of claim information

* Ensure ongoing compliance with internal and external requirements

* Provide timely, targeted reporting to assist stakeholders in management and decision making

* Develop and maintain program evaluation methods and processes for addressing concern

* Implement initiatives to drive spirit of “safety in action” ​

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

* Workers' Compensation & Auto Claims Management

* Manage litigated and moderately complex claims

* Understand and communicate claims management philosophy and strategy to business unit and regional management

* Coordinate communication and decision making internally

* Build, maintain, and manage relationships with claims adjusters, insurers, outside legal counsel, and other claims related third parties

* Operationalize design, analysis, and delivery of claim information

* Reduces the company’s overall auto physical damage loss ratio

* Conduct fleet risk assessments & design and implement fleet safety programs

* Manage vendors including TPAs and Consultants

* Develop baselines and/or targets around claim volume, costs, and ongoing programs to ensure operating results are within target range

* Safety: Prevention Management

* Work with third party to develops Loss Prevention/Control Program

* Initiate measurable strategies, programs, policies and procedures to comply with safety legislation, industry practices, and company culture

* Research and report most cost effective plans to address existing and potential exposure

* Assist in the implementation of a comprehensive Loss Prevention Program inclusive of FinPro and specialty line products including workplace exposure, sexual harassment, discrimination, fraud and retaliation, workplace violence, and compliance with the ADA

* Coordinate company safety resources to support the corporate and regional offices and work with operations to develop safety incentive programs.

* Work with analyst to prepare loss prevention metrics and month end insurance reports to be presented to senior management.

SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

* Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years related Workers' Compensation claims management and Loss Control experience

* Proven experience developing and managing multi-state Workers' Compensation & Safety programs

* Extremely strong organizational, project and time management skills; detail-oriented

* Enthusiastic & outgoing personality

* Strong sense of urgency and efficiency in completing work

* Proactive self-starter

* Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload

* Ability to interact professionally and reliably with senior level executives within and outside the company, as well as with customers, vendors & visitors

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or ARM (Associates in Risk Management) desired
