Job Description

Job OverviewWorks under general supervision performing a variety of skilled tasks pertaining to the installation, operation and maintenance of a water and wastewater facility. Works alone reading water meters on a routine and regular basis. Transcribes readings to a hand-held unit or to meter book pages. Performs routine meter maintenance and repairs. Performs custodial and general maintenance on water and wastewater facilities and grounds.Essential Functions
  • Compile records and reports in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations
  • Analyze and conduct mathematical and laboratory procedures and make adjustments in the operation of a water/wastewater facility
  • Perform all aspects of utility construction including, but not limited to, excavation, shoring, laying and testing of water and wastewater lines
  • Participate in the design and planning of new and existing water and wastewater projects
  • Compile maintenance records, coordinate and perform necessary repairs and preventative maintenance on all irrigation and farm equipment
  • Records legibly and accurately all meter data
  • Observe and analyze problems regarding consumption, installation, and damage or tampering of water meters
  • Compile maintenance records, coordinate and perform necessary repairs and preventative maintenance on meters and meter appurtenances

Job Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must have or be able to obtain within 6 months a Commercial Driver’s License with Air-brake and Taker endorsements
  • Must have or be able to obtain within 1 year a Class I Certification in at least two of the water/wastewater fields, i.e. water distribution, wastewater treatment, wastewater collections
  • Possess basic math skills
