Assist management with processes of the centralized accounting office to include sales tax filings, account reconciliations, and month end closing processes, safeguarding of the assets, and preparing all financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and HEI Hotels and Resorts Standards.

Job Functions


* Prepare and file sales tax returns for multiple properties for various states timely and accurately ensuring compliance with all state, local and county laws and deadlines. Research and stay current with all changes in tax rules, rates, deadlines and communicating it in timely manner with the hotels.
* Review, record and reconcile bank activity in timely, accurate manner for multiple properties. Research and resolve any discrepancies and variances. Communicate all material discrepancies to the management. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
* Backup for accounts payable function
* Prepare entries and reconciliations to meet month end close and reporting deadlines
* Promote internal controls and stay up-to date with accounting concepts, practices and procedures.
* Resolve and provide answers for accounting and financial questions from the field by researching and interpreting data including income journals, accounts receivable and charge backs.
* Prepare reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts.
* Support and promote continuous improvement in processes and procedures.
* Maintain professional level of service to both internal and external customers.
* Ability to take on multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively prioritize work.
* Assist with special projects and task as assigned.



Experience


* Associate's Degree in Accounting preferred.
* Accounting and Hotel experience strongly preferred.

Skills and Knowledge




* Strong attention to detail.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Knowledge of Microsoft SL, ProfitSword and Birchstreet.
* Ability to work independently and multitask.
* Proficient with Microsoft applications particularly Microsoft Excel.
* Ability to prioritize and meet assigned deadlines
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* 10 Key by touch
