Spa Supervisor

Position Summary

Loews Ventana Canyon is seeking a Spa Supervisor to join our team of professionals. Loews Ventana Canyon, Located on 100 acres in the Sonoran Desert, is a four- diamond resort nestled into the foothills of the Catalina Mountains in Tucson, Arizona. The natural desert setting, spa, golf courses, restaurants and service provide an atmosphere that is designed to help guests, relax, escape and be pampered.

Job Summary

Assists the Spa Manager and Spa Director in the daily operations of the Spa commensurate with the demands and expectations of a five-star hotel. Supervise scheduling, attendance, training and activities of Activities Coordinators. Direct the Activities Coordinators in greeting guests, escorting guests and explaining facilities. Oversee maintenance, cleanliness and physical appearance of spa, tennis and pool areas. May be responsible for overseeing all spa facilities and activities when the Spa Director and Spa Manager are not on premises.

Job Specific

  • Assists management in creating schedule for desk coverage
  • Ensure all new Coordinators and Attendants attend orientation and additional training courses offered to enhance service and their development
  • Responsible for training and/or coordinating training for New Hires with input and assistance from Spa management
  • Complete New Hire Checklist in accordance to the Star Service Standards
  • Assists management in scheduling large bookings and group services
  • Develops and maintains a working relationship with Rio support for continuous updating of the database for proper functioning
  • Responsible for knowing all standards and procedures with opening and closing of spa
  • Ensure that desk is stocked and maintain a clean work area throughout the entire day
  • Provides guest service in an exceptionally timely, thorough and professional manner
  • Becomes familiar with guest names and acknowledges them by name
  • Personalizes guest interactions and anticipates guest requests whenever possible
  • Constantly displays outstanding communication and guest relations skills
  • Assist Coordinators and Attendants in dealing with difficult and demanding guest situations when necessary to ensure guest satisfaction while maintaining the integrity of the Spa
  • Communicate with guests and document irregularities when technical or procedural issues arise that require the lead’s knowledge to resolve and communicate those to spa management team
  • Assists guests with follow up billing inquiries pertaining to the Spa
  • Knows the procedures that apply to all services and cancellations
  • Provides information about spa, tennis, exercise and pool service
  • Adheres to all pool safety standards, including safety procedures for adverse weather conditions
  • Knows the location and contents of First Aid Kit
  • Rents or loans recreational items and equipment according to standards
  • Responsible for working with spa staff to maintain a neat and orderly work environment
  • Performs walk-through of the entire spa during the day to ensure tidiness and consistent follow up of spa staff daily tasks
  • Turns in lost and found items throughout shift according to hotel procedures
  • Participate in interviews of potential Coordinator and Spa Attendant employees
  • Participates and provides input in Coordinator and Attendant performance reviews
  • Attend management training courses offered
  • Attends all departmental meetings as scheduled
  • Responsible for scheduling and facilitating monthly Coordinator and Attendant staff meetings
  • Attends pre-convention meetings and other hotel meetings in the absence of management
  • Responsible for accurate recording and submittal of department payroll information
  • Responsible for enforcing the standards and service style with Coordinators and Attendant staff, by spot-checking and using the Loews Standards for coaching and counseling for any disciplinary situations
  • Interact with all levels of staff, ranging from hourly employees to executives in a cordial, efficient, and professional manner
  • Maintains a positive attitude toward Loews and the job being performed
  • Adheres to all Loews, Hotel and Spa standards, policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience

Qualifications

  • Spa, resort or health club experience
  • Excellent guest service skills
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of hotel operations
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
  • Supervisory experience preferred

Experience in marketing spa services and promotion of retail products preferred.
