Job Summary:

The Spa Director is responsible for the oversight of the Balinese-inspired spa, Aarna, with both indoor and outdoor treatment areas.  The spa at Paséa sets a new standard for relaxation and rejuvenation.  Designed to be a vibrant and energizing oasis, Aarna focuses on the small details and surprising touches that recharge the body and spirit. Oversite will include the facilities, its operation, staff, services, equipment and maintenance.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing its operation and labor according to business demands and established budget to ensure the financial health of the organization
  • Ensure appropriate licensing, sanitation and industry standards are met according to Federal, State and local ordinances
  • Ensure safety standards for all Spa personnel and guests
  • Work directly with department leads and maintain standards of excellence for all services and therapies and ensure all are delivered according to procedures, to achieve complete guest satisfaction
  • Maintain linens and guest supplies at par levels
  • Supervise arriving back bar merchandise to ensure orders are reflecting invoices and original  quantities ordered
  • Ensure the successful integration of the spa and the fitness facility into the overall operations of the hotel.
  • Ensure the staff is fully knowledgeable on the use and benefits of services, products, programs, and activities by conducting regularly scheduled staff meetings and training workshops.
  • Provide excellent customer service and monitors guest feedback through the use of comment cards and other customer care techniques. Supervises and follows up on guest requests and comments.
  • Create and implement an effective marketing and public relations strategy in partnership with the Director of Marketing and Communications and our Corporate office
  • Ensure that the spa is successfully positioned within the respective marketplace
  • Implement a strategy to contact groups (social and corporate) and promote spa services to attendees
  • Comply with all PHG Rules and Regulation (grooming - conduct - policies - procedures)
  • Coach, counsel, mentor and develop staff; follow up with documentation and disciplinary action as necessary according to established policies.

Job Requirements:

  • 5 years minimum experience in senior level Spa managerial position at high end establishment
  • Must work weekends, holidays, and be flexible to work AM/PM shifts according to business demands
  • Valid CA. Massage Therapist License and/or Esthetician License preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of professional spa services and treatments
  • Knowledge of retail operations and inventory systems
  • Knowledge of CA labor laws and management principles

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to remain calm and pleasant under stressful situations
  • Displays effective and pleasant speaking and listening abilities when communicating with guests, clients, vendors and/or resort Team Members
  • Must be able to work well with all people at all levels in the organization
  • Able to coach, mentor and motivate team members and be a leader
  • Delegate tasks in an efficient manner and collaborate/assist as needed
  • Possesses customer service excellence
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Adaptable, flexible, positive attitude
  • Experience in conducting and leading meetings
  • Regular attendance is essential for this position
  • Computer literate, experience working with ADP time and attendance, SpaBooker, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, use hands to reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.  Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard, calculator and other Spa materials and office/IT equipment.

The new Paséa Hotel & Spa is a short walk from the Huntington Beach Pier, which draws and estimated 16.3 million visitors annually.  The property is designed by renowned international hotel architect WATG, with the guest rooms designed by Monogram by Callison, interior public spaces by Kay Lang + Associates, and the restaurant and bar by Costa Mesa-based Hatch Design Group.
