QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE
Requires ability to interpret / extract information and / or perform arithmetic functions. May require typing, CRT, record keeping, or word processing. May have the need for good communication skills.
This position requires a minimum formal education of a high school diploma and a minimum of one-year job-related experience.
Performs any necessary pre-shift side work and or paperwork including but not limited to; section outlines, daily menu specials, prices and knowledge of VIP groups and or persons expected to dine.
Reviews the menu and becomes thoroughly familiar with all items and means of preparation being offered that day, including the ingredients, preparation, sauces, and garnishes as well as the wine list, what wines complement which food items and why.
Checks with the manager for assigned stations. Ensures stations are properly set up, cleaned and fully functional.
Greets all guests with a warm smile and personable attitude while ensures all guests are provided with water, bread, and butter with immediately after being seated.
Takes guests’ cocktail and food orders, answering all menu questions, making helpful suggestions, and citing a favorite item while ensuring to upsell any and all menu items.
Presents properly written food ticket to the back server for delivery to the table. Ensures all positions and table numbers are numbered properly. Effectively communicates with the back server to ensure prompt delivery of food orders.
Anticipates guests’ needs at all times.
Must have the capability to read, write and verbally understand and communicate the English language.
Practices “clean as you go” techniques of service, including refolding napkins and cleaning between courses, and keeping the station clean, neat, and supplied at all times.
Presents and closes all guest checks in a timely manner, ensuring all checks are properly signed and printed.
Completes assigned side work and resets tables for the next meal function.
The server must ensure to check with his or her manager prior to leaving at the end of his or her shift.
