Job Description

Provide excellent service to guest by greeting them at their table, providing menu information, answering questions, and taking beverage and food orders. Engage guests in menu pairings in a way to upsell product. Ensure the best experience from beginning to end of service by being attentive to guest needs, welcoming and knowledgeable.
  • Communicate menu specials, items or beverages in a positive, accurate and timely manner
  • Take food and beverage orders in a professional and friendly manner
  • Record and accurately account for all products sold, served or dispensed, turning in all receipts accordingly
  • Develop a positive temporary communicating bond with the guest
  • Replenish secondary food and beverage products in appropriate quantities
  • Follow correct (per standards) service techniques, including method and style of service, setting, maintaining, and clearing table
  • Sell and up-sell food and beverage products in a "soft sell" “suggesting” manner
  • Assist and cooperate with and support fellow servers, employees and managers in the execution of service and maintenance of the restaurant as appropriate
  • Prepare, clean and maintain work station and area for each meal service per standards and according to procedures
  • Expedite service, without rushing customers, to maximize table turn
  • In the absence of a bartender, be able to make most of the bar beverages
  • Properly open and pour wine at tableside
  • Arrive at scheduled start time in appropriate uniform and ready for work
  • Collect and set up any necessary equipment to perform job (complete opening and closing side-work)
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of work area
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in Room Service
  • Maintain complete knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list
  • Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware and garnishes for drinks
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, preparation method/time, ingredients, sauces, portion sizes, garnishes, presentation and prices
  • Maintain complete knowledge of guest room layout, locations and room numbers/names.
  • Maintain complete knowledge and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those providing service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving
  • Maintain knowledge and skilled use of P.O.S. and manual systems
  • Complete closing and cash-out reports
