Position Description



The Senior Sales Manager reports to the Regional Director of Sales & Marketing, with a dotted line to the hotel’s General Manager. Primary contact for Government Transient, Group, and Catering. To exceed budgeted revenue and goals.  To perform our duties in a creative, team oriented and dynamic fashion while always exemplifying the highest standards in customer service, integrity and work ethics.


Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Effectively negotiate with clients and achieve maximum revenue/profit potential while satisfying the customer’s needs.

  • Evaluate, solicit, sell and confirm business as required to meet individual goals and overall budgeted sales and profitability.

  • Manage sales accounts/territory in accordance with sales standards and Annual Sales & Marketing Plan.

  • Make personal and telephone sales calls, as outlined in weekly sales quotas.Follow-up promptly with appropriate action to support these calls.

  • Solicit and service business designated by the Sales & Marketing Plan and Regional Director of Sales.

  • Act on all leads insuring a timely and thorough follow-up.

  • Maintain a good relationship with sister properties acting as one sales force and generate leads for them.

  • Achieve weekly sales activity goals consistently.

  • Create and maintain accurate information on all accounts in Delphi.

  • Conduct thorough site inspections.

  • Sell all hotel services with emphasis on rooms, catering and food & beverage.

  • Plan and implement monthly sales & catering action plans and measure against goal.

  • Keep hotel management promptly and fully informed of any problems / occurrences so that prompt corrective action can be taken.

  • Report activities and productions on a monthly basis and measure against plan/goal.

  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure quality of guest satisfaction.

  • Follow-up on progress of booked business and key account progress, as well as post event follow up.

  • Assist in developing and executing projects for assigned market to increase sales activity, volume and profit.

  • Participate in sales meetings providing comprehensive information / feedback on accounts / territory.

  • Participate in industry related organizations maintaining high profile in the community.

  • Have a complete understanding and knowledge of the competition.

  • Understand and utilize Delphi for all account information, while adhering to standards.

  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times and conduct personal behavior in a mature and professional business manner.

  • Assist in development of annual Sales & Marketing plan to include strategizing and planning activities with costs for given markets.

  • Work closely with the Chef & the Banquet Department

  • Provide Catering Coordinator with relevant information in order to effectively detail Event Orders and Group Resumes. Internal client servicing to be handled by the Catering Coordinator

  • Ability to perform other tasks or projects as assigned by Regional Director of Sales and other management.

  • Good command of the English language is essential, both written and verbal

  • Must be neat, professional, personable and well groomed

  • Previous Sales Management experience is a must.

  • Keyboarding skills would be an asset (60 - 70 words per minute)

  • Previous experience with the Hilton brand property management system would be an asset

  • Must be organized and possess strong time management skills

  • Must be attentive to details

  • Must be guest service focused

  • College diploma or University degree from a Hospitality related program would be an asset
