Senior Graphic Designer

Position Summary

Loews Hotels and Resorts is a leading owner and operator of luxury hotels with three distinct brands: Loews Hotels & Resorts, Loews Regency and OE Collection. The portfolio consists of 25 hotels and resorts in the United States and Canada as well as two new-build properties in development, and plans to continue growing significantly over the next few years. Located in major city centers and resort destinations from coast to coast, the Loews portfolio features one-of-a-kind properties that go beyond Four Diamond standards and embrace their “uniquely local” community in order to curate exciting, approachable and local travel experiences for guests.

Loews Hotels is seeking a Sr Graphic Designer to join our in-house Brand Design team. S/he will develop on-brand design solutions that visually express the tone of the Loews brand and specific business needs as defined by our internal clients, external agencies, creative/project briefs and brand/visual style guide standards. 

More specific responsibilities include:

  • Master brand/visual style guides to ensure integration of brand across all communications
  • Attend brainstorming sessions, when invited, to learn, grow and be inspired creatively
  • Create compelling design solutions for Tier 1 projects that:
    • have strong typography and appropriate use of color, images and fonts, allowing for readability of type have high visual and editorial impact
    • align with all requirements and business objectives outlined in project initiation documentation
    • are delivered with 98% brand compliance
  • Layout and produce Tier 2 projects, based on existing templates, concepts or brand guidelines and:
    • ensure all electronic files are delivered with 98% brand compliance
    • make edits and manage edit-rounds
    • manage version control
    • research and modify images/assets
    • prepare and proof mechanicals for designated output media/technology
    • conduct pre-flight quality assurance of files
  • Stay current with trends, in design and new technologies and techniques for production, printing and pre-press production
  • Utilize workflow process and technology to ensure quality delivery of work product on an ongoing basis
  • Communicate design/production obstacles and improvement opportunities and recommend solutions within workflow processes to Director, Brand Design Studio  and Studio Coordinator 
  • Attend client presentations, when invited, to learn and develop professionally
  • Consult and educate clients on design and production issues/options in a manner that gains their support and buy-in

Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts degree required with emphasis on design or communications
  • 5+ years of design experience in:
    • layout/typography and appropriate knowledge of color use, images and fonts, allowing for readability of type as demonstrated in portfolio review
    • initiating and creating layouts/design solutions and producing electronic files based on existing strategies, concepts, templates and brand guidelines
    • being supervised/art directed
    • collaborating with design and production teams
    • communicating with clients and vendors
  • 5+ years of layout/production experience in:
    • utilizing styles sheets, master pages, templates, tracking, kerning and leading functionalities
    • manipulating artwork (i.e. modify illustrations, retouch images, color correct) and researching/finding images/assets
    • troubleshooting technical issues in graphic files for pre-press and printing—linking graphics, including fonts and creating color separations
    • design and production processes and standard cycle-times for marketing communications
  • Strong communication, organizational and people skills (able to communicate with both clients and internal team)
  • Must be proficient in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and have fundamental knowledgeable in PowerPoint
