Job Description:

Play a key role for the Divisional Accounting function. Support the Midwest Division Controller on a variety of tasks, including journal entry preparation/review/approval; internal reporting, review and distribution; account analysis review; ad hoc report/spreadsheet preparation; audit support and various other accounting tasks and special projects. Effectively utilize Microsoft Word, Excel and other PC tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform and supervise monthly close tasks for various entities, including journal entry preparation and review, account analysis/reconciliation review, report preparation and distribution.
  • Oversee various processes; including cash receipt application, expenditure authorization management and bank reconciliation preparation/review.
  • Interact with the operations and various other departments as required with respect to close, accounting issues, etc. Provide guidance whenever possible.
  • Ensure internal controls exist and are followed for accounting, purchasing, and inventory functions.
  • Able to manage the account reconciliation process.
  • Perform other accounting duties as required. Assist with various special projects.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or equivalent with 3+ years accounting experience; CPA and/or MBA a plus.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills; experience with excel, M3, and POS/PMS applications strongly preferred
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple/simultaneous tasks.
  • Strong process implementation/improvement and problem resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of the USALI 11th Edition preferred
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information
  • Strong interpersonal skills with subordinates, peers and management
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary to complete assigned duties
