You are the protector -- protecting hotel guests, employees and the property. You provide guests with a sense of comfort and wellbeing by maintaining a level of professionalism and visibility. You've always been alert to your surroundings, with an uncanny sense when things just are not right. This awareness enables you to prevent loss, and sound experience enables you to act with swift confidence, when trouble surfaces. Your manner is composed and professional, whether reporting minor incidents or responding to serious emergencies. You spend much of your shift patrolling the property -- parking lots, back of house areas, entries, corridors, etc. - noting unusual circumstances or security concerns, and taking appropriate action. You are important! As Security Guard you will

* Be Accountable -- your job is to be responsible for the safety & security or the entire property and everyone in it. In this role, you seek out and respond to security concerns and emergency situations to protect the Owners' asset as well as of course the safety and security of guests and co-workers.
* Be Helpful -- you are the person who staff or guests will turn to for help with issues that may arise. Do your best to meet and exceed their expectations with your answers and/or actions.
* Be a Paper Pusher -- keeping well documented reports and forms for investigation, action and liability abatement is important, as is documenting any loss or personal injury of guests or associates. Your paperwork needs to be well detailed and timely.
* Be a Safety & Security Agent -- follow your hotel's established safety and security policies & procedures as well as all OSHA guidelines, reporting issues to maintenance.
* Be the Manager on Duty - if requested,

Job Requirements

This role requires good verbal and written English communication skills, with experience in a customer service business required and experience in the hotel business preferred. College degree also preferred while first aid, CPR, self-defense, military or law enforcement training is helpful. Use of various pieces of security equipment and computers required. This job requires light work -- exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently with a regular need to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. On occasion you may be called upon to physically deter someone who poses a threat to guests/employees. You must also be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately, using good judgment, staying calm, and handing issues (including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems) as needed. The role also requires the ability to stand for long periods of time and walk long distances as well as the ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms and ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels. You must have near vision - the ability to see details at close range and must be able to climb stairs and descend stairs in a timely fashion without fatigue as well as the ability to move quickly and agilely if a situation requiring quick assistance arises. Long work hours are sometimes required. Work will be under variable temperature conditions and noise levels and will be both outdoors and indoors (including potentially on roofs). Work will also be around chemicals, fumes and/or odor hazards as well as around dust and/or mite hazards.
