Job Description

Responsible for converting inquiries from potential clients into booked business. Will ensure all aspects of booking including, but not limited to, negotiating rates for group golf events, food and beverage and ancillary spending during event and that event contracts are completed and executed properly to obtain commitment from client groups. He/she will also solicit new business from the area to increase golf event and revenue and achieve or exceed budgeted goals. In addition, will be responsible for managing the annual membership solicitation, planning and executing member events and tournaments, developing and managing member benefits.


* Inbound calls: analyzes requirements of function, creates proposal with outline of available golf course and resort facilities for event, and quotes prices as established by resort management.
* Reviews all upcoming group business booked in hotel, contacts client to inquire and secure potential golf needs.
* Verifies reservations of tee times and resort facilities for each group, draws up necessary contracts, and obtains signatures and adequate method of payment.
* Confers with customer and insures tee times, tournament structure and/or banquet functions are detailed and updated in appropriate systems for seamless turnover to operational departments.
* Interfaces with golf course and resort management teams to plan function details and review client needs through internal meetings.
* Attends all necessary planning and department meetings.
* Manages annual membership efforts to reach targeted identified membership base.
* Creates and markets monthly / quarterly / annual member events and course hosted events.
* Prepares solicitation and marketing collateral to attract prospective customers.
* Upsells event to increase revenues to include merchandise and prizes on course contests.
* Conducts prospecting calls (telephone and in person) to solicit new business as well as follow up calls to re-book events.
* Conducts site visits of property / course for potential clients.
* Attends networking events to identify potential business.
* Completes and utilizes all training available for appropriate systems and follows standards created for data input and documentation for communication throughout property to insure operational success.
* Achievers revenue goals established by resort management.

Job Requirements

Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business administration, hospitality or sales and marketing preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience at a resort or golf club, 1 year of direct or retail sales, 1 year of event planning or golf event/banquet function planning, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of golf, golf terminology, and event logistics for catering and food and beverage. In addition, he/she would be goal oriented about driving revenues and enthusiastic about developing business relationships and creating exceptional events.

The successful candidate will also have the following skill set:

* Computer skills to include MS Word, spreadsheets, email and ability to learn client management and reservations systems for event data entry
* Excellent communication and presentation
* Organization, time management and planning skills
* Ability to interact with all levels of customers and hotel management
* Analytical skills for evaluating business potential and value to property
