Purpose: This position will be responsible for introducing the Novotel Ottawa to the assigned respective markets, and accountable for the achievement or over achievement of revenue goals, solicitation activity, lead development, and negotiation of catering and event business while achieving customer service goals.
Reports to: Director of Sales & Marketing
Complete understanding of the Novotel Ottawa philosophy and apply to all phases of the meeting planning process to include pre-planning, post meeting follow-up and relationship maintenance.
Generate and present proposals and contracts to clients tailored to their requirements.
Negotiates Catering & event bookings within established parameters.
Perform comprehensive site inspections to “Create the Vision” of the event. Entertains potential and existing clients.
Remain current of trends in the industry and local market.
Represent the Hotel at tradeshows and community events when required.
Assists and advises Director of Sales and Marketing, as necessary, to ensure the successful achievement of the organization’s short and long term goals and objectives.
Determine and actively solicit prospective customers from new and existing markets.
Works closely with all operating departments to exceed guest expectations by providing clear, timely and effective information.
Up-selling food and beverage menus to maximize revenues within set guidelines.
Performs other tasks and projects as assigned by Management.
Complies with hotel policies and procedures.
Be available for clients during evening & weekends as needed to secure business and assist during events.
Develop and actively solicit new business prospecting lists and prioritized client accounts.
Accomplish monthly quotas linking sales activities, revenue generation and new business leads.
Develop and maintain monthly marketing plan for social catering market.
Sell creative and innovative ideas to customer.

Flexible hours based on upcoming events and groups to include weekends & evenings.
Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience
Previous Hotel catering experience or event venue an asset.
Experience with Opera and Microsoft Word/Excel is beneficial.
Bachelor’s degree and/or Hotel Management degree
(written & verbal) in English, French would be an asset
