Job Details


Generate room revenue by soliciting through telephone and direct sales efforts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Calls on prospects to solicit business, analyzes requirements of function, outlines available hotel facilities and services offered, and quotes prices according to property rate structure, and qualify clients for event.

Sells basic food and beverage functions, evaluate potential, and use up selling techniques to maximize revenue.

Verifies reservations by letter, fax, and draws up contract and obtains signatures. Negotiates and enters into contracts on behalf of the hotel.

Confers with customer and hotel department heads to plan function details such as site inspection, space requirements, time schedule, food service, and decorations.

Reviews information from hotel sales meetings, marketing plan, training classes, community involvement, association meetings, and other functions held by organization members to select prospective customers for hotel services.

Organize trade show participation and evaluate results.

Serves as convention adviser or coordinator during function to minimize confusion and resolve problems.

Creates and maintains client files to include a trace system for account maintenance.

Consistently utilizes closing techniques to secure group business.

Understands and accurately forecasts short term business.

Generates ideas and plans of action to impact short term and long term hotel booking needs.

Aware of Administrative Assistant role and job responsibilities in the Sales office and able to effectively utilize their services to assist with department goals.

Aware of need to communicate concisely, completely, and accurately in verbal and written communication. Able to take own initiative to communicate appropriately in written or verbal form.

Travel to key accounts and shows and make local outside sales calls, as necessary.


Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
