The Sales Manager is responsible for using independent judgment and professional discretion to book substantial, profitable business into the conference center, taking into consideration the needs of the conference center as well as those of the client. This position must be able to take the general pricing guidelines and booking patterns into consideration and make sound business decisions that will positively impact the conference center's revenue.Responsibilities:
- Produce sales contracts, banquet event orders
- Monitor and handle inquiry calls and provide client proposals.
- Aggressively pursue new accounts on a weekly basis
- Track record developing long term business relationships
- Maintain consistent verbal and written communication with clients
- Work effectively with rooms, catering and banquets
- Participate in local community to develop business
- Attend trade shows and participate in sales blitzes
- Make onsite and field presentations to prospective clients
Education and/or Experience:
Must possess basic math skills. Outstanding communication skills. Must have good understanding of the English language. Good communication skills both verbal and written. Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor. Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy. Prioritize and organize. Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment. Follow directions thoroughly. Understand guest’s service needs. Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team. Work with minimal supervision. Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data. Input and access information in the property management system/computers/point of sales system.
- Prior hospitality and Marriott sales experience preferred.
- SalesPro knowledge preferred.
- Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office product knowledge required.
