This is a unique opportunity for a Restaurant/Banquet Manager to join the only independent, boutique hotel downtown Atlanta.  The Ellis Hotel has been completely renovated as of May 2017, and ranked #1 hotel in Greater Atlanta, by Conde Nast Traveler in 2017.

Restaurant/Banquet Manager will be responsible to assist the Director of Food and Beverage in the management and leadership of all aspects of Room Service, Lobby Bar, Banquets and Restaurant and any special events that benefit these outlets in accordance with Hotel standards. Directs implements and maintains a service and management philosophy.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Supervises, guides and trains all management level associates in the food and beverage discipline.

  2. Ensures that management in the food and beverage discipline is covering all hours of every shift to ensure constant supervision of each department.

  3. Schedules, evaluates and directs all food and beverage personnel.

  4. Provides disciplinary action when, and if, necessary with Director of F&B approval.

  5. Provides associates with the necessary tools or equipment they need to perform their job.

  6. Takes immediate action on problems that are encountered in the food and beverage department.

  7. Participate in the following:

    • monthly department meetings

    • weekly staff meetings

    • weekly food and beverage meetings

    • monthly inventories

  8. Monitors, directs and coordinates effective sanitation, cleanliness and organization effort in food and beverage operating areas; to include maintenance and control of glassware, china, silver and linen use and supplies.

  9. Coordinates efforts of the food and beverage departments to coincide with volumes in business generated by the Catering/Sales and Rooms Division. For example, group commitments, full occupancy, etc.

  10. Maintains meeting room set ups and cleanliness. Assures rooms are clean and set for site visits and walk in guests

  11. Establishes, directs and reviews liquor procedures to ensure adequate security and accountability; presentation and service performance.

  12. Handles or assists with any guest related complaints, as well as coordinates the follow up on those complaints.

  13. Knowledgeable and practices food and liquor federal, state and local laws and regulations.

  14. Produces approved budget and operates both established guidelines in regard to costs, expenses, sales and profit for food and beverage department. Develops, institutes and maintains control and procedure to ensure sameness.

  15. Prepares a weekly sales and payroll forecast for food and beverage departments.

  16. Ensures proper staffing procedures to ensure the highest possible payroll productivity at the lowest possible costs in keeping with the standards of the operation.

  17. Works in close cooperation with the Accounting Department to ensure that proper controls are followed in all food and beverage areas, i.e., food cost, inventory, payroll, etc.

  18. Develops, institutes and coordinates promotional and operational efforts to maximize achievement of sales.For example, advertising, posters, mailers, etc.

  19. Analyzes and monitors profit and loss statements.

  20. Interviews new personnel when needed.

  21. Reviews all food and beverage department reviews, hires, hob transfers, warning notices, counseling sessions and terminations.

  22. Evaluates staff performance and refers to the Standard Operating Procedures.

  23. Reads, learns, understands and refers to the Standard Operating Procedures.

  24. Conducts performance evaluations and training sessions with each manager within the food and beverage department.

  25. Promotes and ensures the upkeep of each department's training procedures and personnel development within the food and beverage discipline.

  26. Develops and institutes new food menus for the Restaurant, Room Service, Lounge and Catering/Sales Departments.

  27. Provides for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.
