Regional Director of Sales

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Director of Sales and are actively looking to meet the best and brightest talent that the hospitality industry has to offer. You will play a key role in the development of our hotels and their Sales departments. The Regional Director of Sales must demonstrate effective project management skills and be a team player with an engaging and approachable style. We are looking for a candidate that is driven to create lasting relationships that secure properties’ long term positioning.

Job Responsibilities
The Regional Director of Sales is responsible for overseeing a region of 10-12 hotels that will include full-service, select service, independent (non-branded) hotels and convention center.  They will work closely with the properties to grow revenue by identifying business development and sales opportunities, setting strategic plans, and utilizing brand resources. 

The Regional Director of Sales will partner with General Managers, Sales teams, Revenue Management and Marketing teams to strategically position our hotels in their respective markets and drive revenue. This position is based in Waterford, CT, requires travel on a regular basis and reports to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Your specific duties in this role will include 

  • Provide leadership in determining overall strategic direction of Sales Department at each hotel in order to improve performance
  • Maintain awareness of market conditions, pricing trends, seasonality and mix of business for each hotel within region
  • Ability to adapt leadership style to work with Sales departments of different sizes and experience levels
  • Exceed budgeted room and catering/banquet revenues and demonstrate positive RevPAR growth for each hotel and the Company as a whole
  • Evaluate and track hotel performance of your properties against budget and market share
  • Participate in monthly P&L meetings and provide commentary on hotel performance at quarterly and annual owner’s meetings
  • Assist in recruitment for open sales positions within region and participate in interviews
  • Develop both short-term and long-term training goals that build identified sales and relationship skills
  • Utilize sales & marketing tools and reports to maximize hotel revenues and RevPAR – STAR, Hotelligence, Demand360, Delphi, reader board, etc
  • Conduct regular property visits to identify areas of opportunity and develop strategic action plans
  • Meet and develop relationships with top accounts for each hotel
  • Assist hotels with developing budgets and business plans
  • Collaborate with the Marketing, Revenue Management and Corporate Sales Leadership teams

We are looking for a self-motivated Regional Sales Director with solid leadership skills, a strong work ethic, and a drive to exceed expectations. It is also important that you have excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills as well as the ability to establish rapport with sales leaders, owners and clients. 


Specific qualifications for the role include:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership capacity in the hotel sales field, ideally with experience in an area or regional capacity with full service and select service hotels
  • Prior experience overseeing a large to medium full service hotel (250 -500 rooms)
  • Prior experience supervising multiple hotels is beneficial and preferred
  • Organizational skills including follow up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving, analysis and effective decision-making skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication and networking skills
  • Experience with multiple brands including Marriott, Hilton, Starwood, and independent properties is required
  • Proven track record of leading, motivating and inspiring teams to meet or exceed sales goals
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • The ability to travel overnight is required
  • Must be able to pass a background check and a drug screening
