The ideal candidate must have a college degree, preferably with a concentration in accounting; two to four years related experience and/or training in the hospitality industry; extensive knowledge of financial statement preparation, accounts payable, payroll, and income audit back-of-house hospitality systems; and possess strong oral and written communication skills.  Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and have strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and month-end closing procedures for multiple hotels in a centralized environment using accounting systems.  The candidate should have a solid understanding on the working capital requirements of the hotels they support and ensure there is appropriate levels of liquidity; should have experience working with property General Managers, Controllers, and Corporate staff; should also have experience in training, coaching, organizing, and coordination of the activities of assigned hotel’s accounting office to ensure efficient operations; and must be available for 75%+ travel.


Position Overview:

  • Serve as a financial advisor and resource to hotel’s financial and management teams.

  • Resolve accounting issues and communicate proper procedures to hotels and to the centralized accounting staff.

  • Work with internal and external auditors to complete audits as needed.

  • Assist in hiring, training, supervising, motivating, and developing accounting staff at hotel.

  • Review, analyze, modify, and implement efficient and effective general accounting processes.

  • Work with takeover teams for the smooth transition of new properties into the system.Assist in training of property Controllers.

  • Work with both limited and full-service hotels.

Job Description:

  • Responsible for overseeing the on-boarding of new hotel properties.

  • Verify accuracy, timeliness and training of all property level accounting functions including daily, weekly, and month-end reporting, payroll processing, income audit, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, and credit card management.

  • Recruit, hire, and train new property accounting associates and controllers as needed.

  • Provide coverage in any existing properties in open accounting positions as needed.

  • Ensure the implementation of financial controls, accurate reporting, and seamless transitions and acquisitions.

  • Lead accounting team in the initiation and completion of property acquisitions for all accounting related action items.

  • Oversee accounting task force members.

  • Oversee accounting activities related to income audit, cashiering, accounts payable, accounts, receivable, tax compliance, payroll, and month-end processing.

  • Participate in internal audit process.

  • Manage discovery and accurate collection, posting, and reconciliation of occupancy taxes, sales and use taxes, and tourism taxes.

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably accounting background, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Knowledge of hotel PMS systems and POS systems; accounting software; advanced skills in MS Excel and MS software products.

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

  • Strong presentation skills.

  • Hospitality business experience strongly preferred.

  • Aptitude for performing numerical analysis of data and formulating conclusions.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Detail oriented and able to handle multiple projects concurrently.

  • Tenacity and ability to maintain peak performance levels under pressure.

  • Must be able to travel 75%+.

  • 2-4 years related experience
