Job Description

Job OverviewThis position supports the Recreation Department in providing comprehensive development, management and internal/external promotion of the resort’s individual and group recreation programs including all activities, clubs and events.Essential Functions
  • Monitor the compliance of cleanliness and safety policies and regulations within the recreation departments
  • Assist in all phases of recreation programs, cost control, and personnel
  • Research, develop, recommend and implement department products, programs and services
  • Assist in the recruitment, supervision and training of recreation staff
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records and complete all required departmental reporting
  • Develops and promote guest recreation packages and special membership promotions and packages
  • Manage inventory counts and implement inventory and purchasing controls for recreation products
  • Schedule routine maintenance and emergency maintenance on recreation equipment and facilities

Job Requirements

Essential Job Functions:
  • Supervision of interns, supervisors and staff in all recreation outlets
  • Assist in operation of all recreation outlets including beach services, crafts, activities, swimming pools, Island Adventures, and other programs
  • Maintains the partnerships and communication with service providers
  • Subject matter expert relating to service providers and concierge services
  • Negotiates contracts and manages payments with service providers
  • Trains and monitors concierge agents on proper procedures
  • Interviewing, background checks and decision making on staff
  • Leads, trains, coaches and evaluates staff and supervisors in all recreation aspects
  • Assists in the design and implementation of recreation programs, activities, clubs and events
  • Ensures proper cash handling and accounting practices
  • Cleanliness and maintenance of all outlets
Experience & Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Education or similar field of study required
  • Minimum 3 years hospitality, leisure services or related experience required
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience required
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
  • Certified Pool Operator preferred
  • Ability to work well with hands on physical tasks
  • Ability to walk, run, climb, swim, see, hear, speak and write fluent English
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Above average written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong organizational skills required
  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point knowledge
  • Severe weather conditions (heat, sun, wind, rain)
  • Must be able to stand on feet and walk throughout the day
  • Must be able to swim
  • Must be able to climb stairs and walk on uneven surfaces on a regular basis with varying surface conditions
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs at shoulder height
  • Must be able to bend, squat, push, pull heavy carts and supplies frequently
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently; squeezing and overhead reaching
  • Must be able to perform in a fast paced environment
  • Will work in the ocean, pool, on sand, on hardscapes, and on grass
