A good knowledge of the following tools is required:

* Adobe Creative Suite – Mac (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash)

* Print ready pre-flight and production coordination

* HTML/CSS skills

* Knowledge of ESP systems a plus (SilverPop, Exact Target, Vertical Response, Constant Contact)

* Knowledge of email best practices including responsive design

The Actual Job Description:

The Publication and Media Designer will design and manage graphic design solutions for ELS’ outdoor lifestyle print publication, TrailBlazer (ten issues a year) by creating create cover and interior page designs, concepts, and layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts. The Designer also determines the size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy. This role collaborates regularly with editors, authors, and design and production staff to ensure work is completed within deadline and meets expectations.

Additionally, the Designer is responsible for contributing to concept development, translation and extension of brand concepts into effective visual designs for digital and print campaigns. Under the direction of the Creative Director, the Designer will work on several projects at a time and will be involved in all phases of creative development. Duties include:

* Execute projects with guidance of senior creative staff

* Conceptualize and execute upon new creative branded templates in addition to executing on existing templates

Core Responsibilities:

* Design, coordination and production of print magazine (68-page)

* Produce attractive and effective designs for all media, with an emphasis on print

* Execution of email campaigns (new creative as well as branded templates)

* Support the team throughout the execution of campaigns and projects

* Collaborate effectively with internal clients and other team members

* Offer input to creative meetings and sharing ideas

* Communicate with senior team members to receive feedback

Qualifications and Skills required:

* Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design

* 1-3 years print and publication design experience with digital design experience

* Strong eye for detail

* Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and creative environment

* The perseverance to see projects through from inception to production

* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

* Good organizational skills

* The motivation to maintain and improve design standards
