Job Description

Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of all public areas in hotel, conference center, and public restrooms.

Place of Work:

  • All public areas including front entrance, lobby areas, public restrooms, fitness center, and elevators.

Overview:

  • Responsible for the cleanliness, service, and maintenance of the public areas, including: front entrance, lobby areas, public restrooms, fitness center,  and elevators, in accordance with the standards of The Holiday Inn World’s Fair Park

Relationships:

  • Reports to: Inspector/Supervisor
  • Key Relationships: Director of Housekeeping, Housekeeping Department, Guest Services, Central Services, Engineering

Qualifications:

  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, team members, and Management.
  • At least 1 year of housekeeping experience preferred.
  • High School degree preferred.
  • Hospitality or hotel experience preferred.
  • Fluent in a foreign language preferred.
  • Must be able to physically perform all tasks assigned.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must be able to understand and follow instructions.
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and irregular shifts
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work closely with others.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements, and product recommendations
  • Ensure security of all assigned keys and communication devices
  • Review assignment sheet and update completed assignments. Check with Supervisor or Manager for additional assignments throughout the shift
  • Review pars and stock supplies
  • Review assigned area and complete general removal of any trash or debris. Ensure trash receptacles are cleaned and sanitized.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of closets; remove trash, wipe down shelves/counters; sweep/vacuum and mop floor; remove non-floor closet items and transport to proper areas
  • Clean designated areas with proper chemicals, tools, and equipment
  • Ensure that nothing is stored in stairwells
  • Ensure elevators are vacuumed, cleaned, and maintained
  • Check under furniture for debris and remove if present; reposition to correct floorplan
  • Inspect condition of all furniture for tears, rips, and stains and report damages to Supervisor of Manager. Dust and polish all wood work
  • Remove all dust, debris, and foreign particles from upholstered furniture, including crevices and under cushions
  • Dust pictures, frames, mirrors, fire extinguisher boxes, exit signs
  • Clean all lamps, light fixtures, and light switches; check for proper working conditions
  • Remove dust, spots, and smears from windows, frames, and ledges; wash windows as assigned 
  • Remove dust, grease, and smears from house/public phones and reposition properly
  • Remove dust on drapes and realign to correct position daily
  • Inspect condition of planters and plants; remove debris and polish planters
  • Remove dust, dirt, marks, and fingerprints from doors and door frames
  • Remove stains, scuff marks, and dust from baseboards, ledges and corners
  • Remove trash and cobwebs from front drive.  Sweep and clean daily.
  • Use designated chemicals, supplies, and equipment to clean various floor surfaces (mops, buffers, vacuums, wet vacuum, extractor, shampoo machine, etc.) Replace signature floor mats and rugs 
  • Wipe down and maintain cleanliness of cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuum)
  • Maintain cleanliness of fitness center.  Wipe down machines and maintain an adequate stock of guest amenities, water bottles, and towels
  • Remove dirt, soap build-up, and hair from public and employee bathroom mirrors, vanities, sinks, toilets/urinals, and floors
  • Replace facial and toilet tissues, paper hand towels, and soaps in correct amounts and in proper location
  • Report any damages or maintenance problems to Engineering using a Maintenance Request Form
  • Turn over any lost and found items to Supervisor.
  • Report any suspicious activity or items to a Manager immediately
  • Successful completion of the training/certification process

Entrance:

  • Remove trash and cobwebs.  Sweep daily.
  • Empty trash from trash cans.  Ensure trash cans are cleaned and sanitized.
  • Dust and clean light fixtures.
  • Remove dust, spots, and smears from windows, frames, and ledges outside the hotel; wash windows as assigned
  • Remove dust, dirt, marks, and fingerprints from  entrance doors and door frames
  • Ensure the front entrance is pristine at all times in accordance with the standards of The Holiday Inn World’s Fair Park.  (Remember, the front entrance is the first thing the guest sees/experiences).

Lobby:

  • Check under lobby furniture for debris and remove if present; reposition to correct floorplan
  • Inspect condition of all furniture for tears, rips, and stains and report damages to a Supervisor or Manager
  • Dust and polish all wood work in lobby
  • Ensure all glass table tops are pristine and smudge free
  • Remove all dust, debris, and foreign particles from upholstered furniture in lobby, including crevices and under cushions
  • Dust pictures, frames, mirrors, bookshelves, fire extinguisher boxes, exit signs
  • Clean all lamps, light fixtures, and light switches in lobby; check for proper working conditions
  • Remove dust, spots, and smears from windows, frames, and ledges; wash windows as assigned
  • Remove dust on drapes weekly and realign to correct position daily
  • Inspect condition of planters and plants; remove debris, polish planters
  • Vacuum all area rugs in lobby.

Front Desk:

  • Remove dust, grease, and smears from phones and computers. Reposition properly
  • Dust and sanitize front desk area
  • Vacuum behind front desk

Restrooms:

  • Sanitize restroom door handles, trash cans, light switches, sinks, toilets, and floors
  • Clean light fixtures, and light switches in restroom; check for proper working conditions
  • Remove dust, dirt, marks, and fingerprints from doors and door frames entering restrooms
  • Remove dirt, soap build-up, and hair from public and employee bathroom mirrors, vanities, sinks, toilets/urinals, and floors
  • Remove trash from the trashcan
  • Replace facial and toilet tissues, paper hand towels, and soaps in correct amount and in correct location

Exercise room:

  • Maintain cleanliness of exercise room in accordance with the standards of THE HOLIDAY INN WORLD’S FAIR PARK
  • Check under equipment for debris and remove if present; reposition to correct floorplan
