PBX Operator (Star Service)

Position Summary

The Loews New Orleans Hotel is seeking Star Service Operator to join our team. The Loews New Orleans Hotel is a 4 Diamond, luxury 285 room hotel with over 17,000 square feet of meeting space located in the heart of the Central Business District. Responsibilities include: answering incoming/in-house phone lines, directing calls and/or taking messages; coordinating communication among hotel personnel; receiving, processing performing wake-up calls for guests; assist guests in completing outside calls as necessary; maintaining records and/or files of all communication and activities

Required Skills and Experience

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One plus year(s) experience as a telecommunications agent in a Hospitality environment
  • Excellent phone and communications skills
  • Ability to handle multiple lines, while maintaining efficient operation
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment, basic computer skills,
  • Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays

Job Specific:

  • Operates multi-line call equipment
  • Answers phones in a polite professional manner
  • Uses computer to verify identity/room number of guest being called
  • Directs calls to appropriate extension,
  • Records messages on appropriate form, forwards messages to respective individuals
  • Gives directions to hotel from major inbound locations
  • Answers questions regarding hotel functions and facilities
  • Transmits messages via two way radio and digital pager
  • Receives, processes, wake up calls for guests
  • Performs wake up call functions
  • Processes guest mail, faxes and packages
  • Transmits messages via facsimile machine
  • Serves as communications hub during Emergency Procedures
  • Maintains required logs, records and files to document department operations
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Notifies appropriate individual promptly and fully of all problems and/or unusual matters of significance
  • Is polite, friendly, and helpful to all guests, management and fellow employees
  • Attends all appropriate hotel meetings and training sessions

  • Executes emergency procedures in accordance with hotel standards
  • Complies with required safety regulations and procedures

  • Recycles whenever possible
  • Remains current with hotel information and changes
  • Complies with hotel uniform and grooming standards
